Looking for the latest music, movies and TV torrents? Don’t beat yourself up trying to find an impossible invite to TranceTraffic, BitMe, ScL or ScT when there are hundreds of private trackers that offer similar content. Unless you’re into niche trackers that offer irreplaceable and hard-to-find torrents, most of the scene stuff trickles down to most of the other trackers anyways. Here’s our picks for excellent alternative BT sites that you’ll actually be able to get in to.
For a full list of trackers by category, check out the Big List.
0day/General Trackers:
The Good Stuff: TorrentLeech, ScT, ScL, SCC, iPlay.ro (and a multitude of others).
Great Alternatives: RevoTT, Demonoid, TTi.nu, BitSoup, IPTorrents, SceneFZ, TorrentBytes
— RevolutionTT - RevoTT is one of the most overlooked 0day trackers, and also one of our favourites. While not often publicly open to new signups, they frequently run open promotions to generate additional members.
— Demonoid.com - ‘The Demon’ usually mirrors most of the scene stuff, eventually. Invites are plentiful, and they’re even open publicly for new signups at least once a month. A good "starter’s tracker".
— TTi.nu - TTi is another overlooked tracker with good pre-times and boasts nearly 20K torrents. While not open to new accounts, finding an invite to TTi is not too difficult - especially now, as all Power Users (and up) were just awarded one invite today - ‘giveaways’ will be floating around.
— BitSoup.org - With an enormous max limit of 110K and an active pruning system to remove inactive/bad accounts, they frequently open for public signups. If you try their signup link at least once a day for a week straight, we can almost guarantee you’ll get in.
— IPTorrents.com - Open signups are closed, but invites are plentiful. An overlooked gem of a tracker.
— SceneFZ.org - Has open signups until Sept. 25/08, and DL/UL does not count towards account ratio during this time. Offers over 8,500 torrents.
— TorrentBytes - Almost always open publicly to new signups, TBy has some very good pre-times for an ‘open’ private tracker, and offers ~4,000 torrents. With 70K users, seeding is a breeze, and download speeds are great - due to the high number of peers.
0day/General trackers open right now: FunFile, Pretome, BitTorrents.ro (15K+ torrents), and tons more.
Music Trackers:
Truth be told, there really is no alternative to What.cd or Waffles.fm. Hands down, these are the best music trackers going. Worse yet, if you do manage to slip in to one or both of these music behemoths, you’ll sadly not be able to download everything you want anyways. Seeding is very difficult, and unless you happened to build a high buffer during recent freeleech promos, you’ll need to be cautious about what you download.
Good alternatives: STMusic, Libble, Metal iPlay.
— STMusic - Easy site to get into, offers almost 20K torrents in all categories of music, including 7,000 ’scene’ music releases.
— Libble.com - Over 10K torrents, and new stuff added all the time.
— Metal iPlay - If metal is your madness, this is your place! Tons of huge packs & discographies, DVD videos and more.
Other alternates (that are open): Soundarea (2,300 torrents); BitMusic.hu (2,500 torrents), The Trader’s Den; RapThe.net.
Trance Music Trackers:
For years now, TranceTraffic has solidly remained the premier tracker for trance music lovers - and for good reason. With over 55K torrents and a tiny user limit of just 8,000 - we wish you best of luck finding an invitation.
Alternatives to TT include TranceRoute and Elektronik (both not open publicly - but much easier to find an invitation to), and TranceBits and TranceBooster (which are both currently open).
eLearning Trackers:
With over 20,000 total torrents, there’s but one eLearning tracker that rises above the rest, and that’s BitMe.org. Having a hard time finding a way in? You’re not alone - in fact, it’s becoming even more difficult to join as of late. Membership is actually on the decline with just over 19K (out of a possible 30K) - this is due to the fact that more accounts are being pruned off when compared to the number of invites being handed out to qualifying members.
Good alternatives include: Docs.torrents.ro, Elbitz, TextbookTorrents.
— Docs.torrents.ro - Presently open to new signups, torrents total in at over 5,700.
— Elbitz.net - Will be open from Sept. 15-17 for new signups. If you missed it, public signups are open at least once a month, and future signup dates are publicly announced on their main page.
— TextbookTorrents - Presently open, offers 6,000 eLearning torrents - very specialized content mostly suited for scholars, students.
TV Trackers:
BMTV continues to reign king of the TV torrent sites with nearly 15K torrents (many of which are complete collections and full series ‘packs’). Not an easy account to come by - even the most dedicated and diehard torrenter will have a problem finding a way in; let alone building a decent buffer.
Good Alternatives: TV.torrents.ro, TVTorrents.com.
— TV.Torrents.ro - A great alternative to BMTV. They open their doors frequently to fill up pruned accounts - keep checking back at the signup link. TVT.ro offers a ton of freeleech packs; HD torrents are also free; everything is arranged well; # of torrents: +8,000.
— TVTorrents.com - You’ll now need a valid ‘invitation code’ to join TVT, but has some great content. There’s even a nice TV Guide with episodes calendar.
Other TV Trackers (open right now): TV-Vault.me (older stuff); Bitt.tv (2,500 torrents); FeedTV.org (700 torrents); TheBox.bz (British content).
HD Trackers:
HDBits.org - Every HD fan dreams of getting into HDBits.org - hands down the best HD tracker around - with over 14,400 torrents, cool bonus system (and freeleech), large specialty packs, and their own in-house encoders that provide exclusive content not found anywhere else. Invites are almost impossible to find now since they’re awarded only to an elite group of VIPs.
Good HD Alternatives: Bit-HDTV, HD-Bits.ro, SceneHD, x264
— BIT-HDTV.org - With over 9,500 torrents, this is a great alternative to HDBits, and much easier to seed on. Currently not open directly to new signups (but keep checking back at their "signup" link - you never know), and invites are much easier to come across.
— HD-Bits.ro - Another excellent substitute that’s occasionally open to public signups (keep checking back). HD-Bits.ro offers a ton of packs, fast download speeds, and employs a neat Karma (bonus) system to encourage extended seeding.
— SceneHD.org - A Swedish tracker for scene HD releases only (mostly English).
— x264.eu - While not exclusively known as an "HD" tracker (as x264 is a codec), there’s still a lot of great HD content for movies and TV.
Other HD Trackers (that are now open): HD-Torrents.org (600 active torrents); HDTransmission.
Movie / DVD Trackers:
Instead of listing off a bunch of trackers that cater to movies (as almost all trackers have the latest movie torrents), we’d thought it be more informational to break it down into content diversity.
— The Horror Charnel - Currently not open without an invite, but offers an decent selection of Horror-related movies.
— BitHQ.org - Offers over 3,200 active torrents. While not open publicly to new signups, invites are routinely handed out in their IRC channel at irc.p2p-network.net/bithq.
— Cinemageddon (currently open) - offers an eclectic array of classic, obscure and hard-to-find movies (13,000+ active torrents). Users need not search for the latest "Batman Dark Knight" release - it won’t be listed. Similar trackers include Cinemanija (open); Secret-Cinema (the old Cinema-Obscura - not open).
— Karagarga (my personal favourite, but not open publicly for new signups) which offers over 45,000 torrents, most of which won’t be found elsewhere.
Movie Trackers currently open: TehConnection.eu (2,700 torrents); RoDVD (500 active torrents); MovieTorrents.org; Technat.net (1,000 active torrents); Film-Torrents.nl.
