For those of you who incorporate IP Blocking into µTorrent, you may have noticed that when you upgraded to v1.8, the ipfilter.dat addon doesn’t seem to be blocking anything. Rest assured, it is working. If you use µTorrent v1.7.7 with ipfilter.dat and click on the Logger tab at the bottom, blocked IPs are automatically shown (and logged). This is not the case for v1.8, and you’ll need to manually enable the log to get it to display the blocked peers.
Totally new to IP Blocking for µTorrent? Check out this guide (it works just the same for any version of µTorrent).
Assuming you’ve already installed the ipfilter.dat file and have µTorrent running, click the Logger tab at the bottom of the µTorrent window. Nothing much will be shown, since logging is OFF by default. Right-click and select "Peer Traffic Logging" and put a checkmark where it says "Log blocked connections".
That’s it! You’ll now see a report of all the blocked connections, just like in µTorrent v1.7.7. Totally simple, we admit - yet there’s torrent forum threads asking for this, and nobody bothered to explain it.
As a side note, there’s a brand-new updated version of µTorrent’s WebUI (v0.361). To quote the staffers, "After one year of ‘intense coding’ we have an updated WebUI for you." Check out this forum thread for download links and further details. Upon testing, we didn’t notice any cosmetic improvements - it’s all behind the scene.
