The All-New TorrentLeech v3 Has Arrived

November 09, 2010 by sharky

After more than a full year of intense planning and continuous development, TorrentLeech v3 is finally ready to be unleashed. Get excited - this isn’t just some quick paint job thrown over an old engine; TL has been entirely gutted & reinvented into something to behold. Not since What.CD’s iconic Gazelle has any tracker undergone such favourable modifications to improve user functionality. Developed 100% from scratch, the new TL offers an impressive array of improvements over their previous aging sourcecode.

The Horror Charnel: Open Signups For One Week

October 25, 2010 by sharky

There’s a history between private trackers and Halloween that goes back a long way. It’s that one special holiday when sites come out with unique themes, contests and special events. For some trackers, Halloween also represents an occasion of substantial growth - especially so for horror movie trackers such as The Horror Charnel. For THC, it usually signifies the time of year when they open their doors for registration, such as right now.

PackMe.In - BitTorrent’s Pack Tracker is Back Online

October 22, 2010 by sharky

After nearly two solid months of downtime, BitTorrent’s favorite (and only) pack tracker is finally back in action, jack! This time around though, PackMe.In (yep, same URL as before - and now open for signups) is running on a smooth new server using Gazelle’s codebase. Also known as The Donkey, PiN’s purpose is to serve up their own breed of unique torrent "packs". For those not in the know, packs are similarly-grouped torrents bundled together into one large torrent - this includes music discographies, movie box sets, TV series & seasons and everything else in between.

TheSwarm - New Gazelle Movie Tracker Creating a Buzz

September 30, 2010 by sharky

After more than a month of intense development, BitTorrent’s hottest new movie tracker is ready for public launch. The Swarm, a new Gazelle-based multi-format film tracker, is actually still in a late beta phase but already incorporates some very impressive features. Dual-option parsing, combined with a unique autofill and literally thousands of pre-cached indexed movie pages are just a few of the ideas Swarm brings to the table. Check it out; this tracker has some serious potential.

For those who are fanatic about the college circuit, well that’s a different story altogether - until recently. Deli.sh - The Food Tracker, Grand Opening Coming Soon

August 01, 2010 by sharky

Community is everything. It took just two What.CD members to come forward and post their vision: a desire to create a new niche tracker. Supportive response was overwhelming to say the least; less than a week later a mere concept had spiraled into a full-blown reality and Deli.sh was born. BitTorrent’s first (and only) food tracker has launched with vigor - we’ve got the details on this exciting new site.

HDME - 250 Invite Codes Offered to FSF Readers

June 09, 2010 by sharky

Just in case you missed out on the opportunity to get into HD-tracker HDME.eu, FSF has been allocated with 250 Invite Codes to share with our readers. Public registration to HDME ended right on schedule, but latecomers still have a final chance to sign up. Their recent ‘open-reg’ would be considered an enormous success, and it’s been said that this won’t occur again "for a long time". We’ve got you covered - well, at least 250 of you, that is.

HDME.eu - Open Signups; Adds Encoder Groups FraMeSToR and FLAWL3SS

June 07, 2010 by sharky

When you’re good at your job, there will always be a demand for your services. FraMeSToR, a popular movie encoder ‘P2P group’ who was "internal" at Bit-HDTV announced that they’re stepping down from that tracker. That’s a bitter pill to swallow for Bit-HDTV no doubt, but the good news is FraMeSToR has now joined forces as an internal on HDME.eu - a fast-growing HiDef tracker. And the news gets better: FLAWL3SS has also become an internal at HDME for their 720p releases - and to welcome in these new groups, HDME has decided to open registration for a very limited time.

Update: 21:00 GMT 2010-06-08 - Public registration is now closed.

SyncTheBits - Mobile Tracker Goes Gazelle, Open Signup

May 23, 2010 by sharky

BitTorrent’s most notorious mobile & phone tracker SyncTheBits has officially been relaunched with a fresh new look featuring the Gazelle sourcecode. The migration to Gazelle has been in the works for at least six months - and to welcome in the new codebase StB has opened the doors. After chatting with the founder of StB, a recent ‘open signup’ campaign was intended to only permit 150 new members - but we’ve now been assured that registration will continue to be open for the next 48 hours, at least.

EDIT: (May 26th) - Public registration to StB is now closed.

‘The X’ - Open For Signups For 5 More Days (v2)

May 17, 2010 by sharky

Just when it appeared that the SceneLife crew were really on a positive roll with their latest creation "The X", a DB failure sent them back at least two weeks. This unfortunate mishap wiped out literally thousands of new users when signups opened and FSF was forced to eat our words when we suggested that they’d probably never have ‘open registration’. Well, the proverbial cat’s out of the bag, so to speak - the URL is not much a secret anymore (although we’ll still refer to them herein as "X"); even screenshots & reviews can be found floating around. Then again; why not just sign up for yourself - "The X" will be open for registration for the next 5 days, so we’ve been told directly by one of their sysops.

• Signup link: http://scenexpress.net/opensignup.php

UPDATE - 05/21/2010 - Signups are now closed.

Here’s your chance to get into one of the most innovative accomplishments ever put forth by a tracker dev team - this is definitely an opportunity not to be overlooked.

Find Private Trackers with Open Signups: A Review of ‘Tracker Checker’ Sites

April 26, 2010 by sharky

Resources for discovering private trackers that are open for registration are virtually endless: blogs, ‘torrent invite’ boards, even tracker forums themselves. Apart from those - other online services known as tracker checker sites - can also provide invaluable current information on tracker ’signup’ status in real-time. Here we investigate older sites such as BTRACS, and also take a look at a couple of newer ones you might not have heard about.

‘The X’ - New Scene Tracker From the SceneLife Crew

April 20, 2010 by sharky

Diligent work on a covert project spanning back nearly 8 full months has finally paid off - the SceneLife crew are now ready to unveil their latest tracker, simply titled "The X". Some will call this "ScL v2", when in fact The X is an entirely different (and better) site than its predecessor, in every way. Old staff (and new) have come together to create this brand-new & exciting 0sec/scene tracker - the first of its kind to be powered by ScT’s unreleased ScTBDev sourcecode. Also known as just X, it’s also the only known tracker in existence to begin life with more than 15,000 active torrents, all before opening the door.

Eargasm.ME - New HQ FLAC/Lossless Music Tracker

March 30, 2010 by sharky

Ahh, Gazelle. The ideal tracker sourcecode for music torrent sites. If there’s ever been room for another music tracker on the ‘net, it’s a high-quality lossless Gazelle tracker to compete with Pedro’s and E*. Enter Eargasm.ME - a new lossless audio tracker (100% log, no transcodes), billed as the new & improved Need-Music v2 - Eargasm.ME officially launched yesterday, and is very much still in ‘beta’, but early signs suggest a heightened interest in the development of this rebranded FLAC-only baby Gazelle.

Apply Online: Private Trackers with Invite Application Forms

March 28, 2010 by sharky

Apart from shamelessly purchasing an invite from a private tracker directly (as our last post suggests), many trackers will offer non-members an opportunity to join through a web-based application form. Plug in a few details about yourself, explain why you want to join, cross your fingers and just maybe they’ll send an invitation your way. Unlike IRC interviewing, there’s no pressure on either the invitee or inviter, and potential members can take their time with the form to get it "right". Below is a list of 19 trackers that you can apply directly to.

Buy Your Way In: Private Trackers That Sell Their Own Invites

March 25, 2010 by sharky

Surely the easiest way to get into a private tracker is just to wait for registration to open. While this isn’t always an option, especially for closed-communities, the second-easiest method would be to simply buy your way in the door. After researching virtually every tracker out there, we uncovered a surprisingly large list of private trackers that sell direct access; that is, sell their own invites under the guise of a donation. Incredibly, some trackers want as much as 25€ (Euro) for a single invitation.
