BigTenTracker - The College Football Tracker (Gazelle)

September 16, 2010 by sharky

With the 2010 US Football season fresh upon us, what could be better than a new football tracker? Pro NFL torrents aren’t exactly hard to locate and can be found on a variety of Sports trackers, if you know where to look. For those who are fanatic about the college circuit, well that’s a different story altogether - until recently. BigTenTracker.com is a brand-new football tracker with a focus on NCAA and the Big Ten Football conference.

Registration to BigTenTracker (BTT) is currently open to all:

About BTT…

Not your average football tracker, BigTenTracker tracks torrents that pertain mostly to NCAA football releases, at least that’s how it is for now. Although not exclusively limited to Big Ten releases, the site also accepts other NCAA sports as well as pro-league NFL/NHL/NBA (although no torrents exist for these as of yet).

In just a few short weeks, BTT has already amassed in excess of 1,500 members, and indexes 50 torrents. The torrent count should be taken into consideration since there have only been 21 Big Ten football games thus far this season. Amazingly, the tracker possesses a small army of 6 dedicated HD PVR cappers to ensure that most games get covered in a timely fashion. To date, out of 21 Big Ten games played BTT has only missed out on five of them (3 were in Week 1; 2 in Week 2).

To suggest the site is organized would be a tremendous understatement. Upcoming games are decided on beforehand as to whom is going to cap them (sniff around the forums in the Football section for additional details). Thus far all have been capped in HD (720p) using H.264 codec in either MKV or MP4 container, or both. SD encodes (ie - 480p XviD) are uncommon but would be a welcomed format to the tracker.

A request system exists, although most future games are covered anyways on a week-to-week basis. In addition to regular season games, members can expect to find a decent selection of pre-game broadcasts and older 2010 Spring games. Gazelle’s ‘Collections’ is a nice touch here, and groups together torrents from a particular team or motif.

Older (non 2010) Big Ten games can stil be found on the public tracker at MgoVideo.com.

Members can customize the tracker appearance to reflect their favorite team’s theme by changing the stylesheet in the user profile. We used Notre Dame for the screenshots below.
