24 New Private Trackers: September 2010 Edition

September 14, 2010 by sharky

Here’s our latest roundup of new trackers to hit the BitTorrent scene for September 2010. We present 24 new sites in all; including 10 new ‘general’ trackers, 5 new niche sites, and 5 international trackers. Plus, we re-review last month’s trackers to see where (or if) they’re still standing.

General Trackers…

http://arcticdream.com

We found a recent ‘review’ at TI.com on ArcticDream which pumped it up as a new 0day/scene-only tracker, but in actuality this statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Online for more than a month, there’s just 185 active torrents (with ~200 total seeds) since 2010-08-09. Stats: unknown. Overall stats (torrents/peers/members) are not displayed on the main index page.

Our prediction — Despite a nice layout, there’s absolutely nothing here whatsoever to entice anyone into signing up. Download speeds on 1-seed torrents were downright atrocious, to boot.

http://www.ransackedcrew.net

Online for nearly two full months now, RansackedCrew indexes 2,427 torrents w/ 5,023 total seeds & 805 members. Content is diverse but consists mostly of current popular non-spam 0day/scene releases, as well as a number of specialty packs.

Our prediction — No sceneaxx, but they do possess a dedicated team of steady uploaders averaging ~40 new torrents per day. Forums & torrent activity are modestly high for a tracker that few have even heard about, and everything is seedbox-hosted. Definitely worth checking out!

http://torrents-heaven.com

Just about anyone eager enough can create a tracker and fill it to the brim with useless MP3s, small apps and other junk - and then proclaim to have a worthwhile site with loads of content and a high torrent count. This trick, which makes a tracker seem better than it actually is, usually backfires. Torrents-Heaven is not one of those trackers. Stats: 350 active torrents (all webhosted) & 275 registered members. Online since August 21, 2010 (or thereabouts).

Our prediction — It’s too bad we’re unable to arrange the torrents by size in sucky TSSE 7.1, or else we’d be able to show you a tracker chock-full of huge torrents. That’s exactly what you’ll find here: DVDRs, TV series/seasons, multi-platform games (including a PS3 section with 46 torrents) and more. What you won’t find is a tracker full of small crap. Quality over quantity!

http://www.scene4all.net

Sharp-looking Scene4All launched about a month ago, and indexes 90 active torrents (123 seeds) with 121 registered members. Scene non-spam releases make up for the brunt of the content here, with some large ‘TV packs’ available as well.

Our prediction — While the torrent count seems a little low at just 90 (all are seedbox-hosted), most are above 700MB in size. All new signups receive 5GB UL credit to start off with. The in-tracker seedbox is added plus, but this one desparately needs more uploaders.

http://ns-t.org

Online for just a few days now, NSTorrents opened on September 6th and lists 70 registered members & 84 active torrents. While considered to be a general tracker, much of what is offered includes movies/packs, TV/packs, animation, games and other media releases.

Our prediction — NST uses an ‘army’ motif for the tracker which is also somewhat reflected in the genre of torrents (see screenshot; above right). All new signups receive 10GB upload credit.

http://leech2seed.info

Leech2Seed began in early August and indexes 1,500+ torrents with 621 members. All new signups receive 7GB upload credit; new torrents are seedbox-hosted; offers an optional SSL (https) tracker. L2S also has an in-house encoder for films in both HD & SD format (39 total torrents).

Our prediction — Sometimes it’s just easier to let the statistics do the talking: Out of 1,500 active torrents, less than one-third are larger than 300MB. There are 1,602 seeders for 1,580 total torrents (only 70 torrents have more than one seed). Categories apps and MP3 make up for 65% of all torrents.

http://tagtorrents.com

TagTorrents is a relatively new startup from early July which lists 862 total members, 597 total torrents (148 are dead) and 668 seeders. Here you’ll find scene releases, spam, non-spam, nonscene & lossless music, tiny apps, large packs & everything in between.

Our prediction — Design aside, TagTorrents kinda reminds me of BaconBits - another tracker that has no predetermined theme for its content. However, for TagTorrents we’re not exactly suggesting that this is a positive attribute to the tracker; far from it.

http://www.bulextorrent.org

Around since 07-31-2010, BulexTorrent indexes 2,000 torrents (1,066 are active) and 1,433 members. Being Romanian, this TBDev tracker is pleasant to browse, but the tradeoff is that nearly half of all active torrents are small 0day apps (487).

Our prediction — Most Romanian trackers usually offer a mixed bag of RO & EN titles to choose from; but at Bulex, Romanian releases take precedence with nearly 300 RO/Rosubbed media (film) torrents. English users expecting to find a healthy selection of scene releases for HD, DVDR & XviD will be sadly mistaken.

http://torrentinos.com

Online since 08-08-2010, Torrentinos has 744 total torrents (535 active, with 616 seeders among them) and 394 registered members. "XviD" makes up for nearly half of all torrents.

Our prediction — Although Torrentinos uses TBDev, this customized version leaves a lot to be desired. By default there are only 5 torrents per browse page; there’s no date-added info on individual torrents on the browse; category browse (icons) are hidden; the oversized shoutbox is shown on every pageview (get that middle mousebutton warmed up, you’ll need it). Some of these can be customized in the userCP, others can not. Functionality (or lack thereof) is what kills this tracker.

Foreign Trackers…

http://infire.si

  • — Category: General (Slovenia)     Codebase: TBDev?
  • — Signup Link: You’ll find it

It’s not exactly known when Infire.si came to life, but this newish Slovenian tracker has 4,750 registered members & 1,186 torrents (500+ are active). The design is nothing short of excellent, enhanced by Ajax functionality and mouseover previewing.

Our prediction — As far as Slovenian trackers go, this one gets a big thumbs up! Internationally, there’s not a lot of content to appease the general BT community; although there’s some music, Pr0n & scene releases to choose from.

http://polishbits.org

PolishBits (PBT) is Poland’s latest addition to private BitTorrent, and features 556 active torrents dating back to 2010-07-20. Signups are currently open until they hit 3,000 members - although it’s unknown what the current member count is.

Our prediction — Nothing much here for the English folk, but Polish torrenters will probably want to find a place in this tracker. PBT mainly features XviD PL encodes (dubs & subs), and even has their own ‘internal’ releasers working exclusively with PBT.

http://www.spelamig.org

Online since 2010-05-18, SpelaMig has 2,236 active torrents. Currently open for signups, there’s an 1,800 member-limit & 1,746 slots are already filled, leaving just a handful of slots left. All new accounts come with a generous 30GB upload credit.

Our prediction — Sweden prides itself on great trackers, but SpelaMig hasn’t shown the potential to become truly great - at least not in their first 4 months (an eternity for new trackers). Dual browse would help (spam vs non-spam) as the main browse page is continuously flooded with minuscule 0day fodder.

http://torrentfiles.ath.cx

Most German trackers - even the top ones - use free domains for that added layer of elusiveness, such as the new TorrentFiles.ath.cx tracker. Here we have 3,800 members and 2,450 active torrents - most of which are Deutsch oriented. TIP: You’ll require a non-disposable email address to register (no gmail, msn, etc) although there is no confirmation message so users are instantly able to login.

Our prediction — Germany has its own independent thriving scene, scenegroups, topsites and the like (even for appz & adult); for this, the majority of native trackers don’t bother to tap into the resources pertaining to English scene releases. International torrenters should pass on this one. Interested? Check out the complete review found here.

http://pvtorrent.org

PVTorrent (PVT) launched just a few short days ago. It’s a mixed Croatian/English tracker with 212 members & 112 active torrents (w/ 157 seeds). Apparently all torrents are freeleech until 2011.

Our prediction — PVTorrent has only been online for a few days; it’s much too early to form a proper opinion.

Niche Trackers…

http://thegeeks.bz

"TheGeeks was born as an expansion to ThePlace.bz (Seduction and Self Help), TheVault.bz (Business and Wealth), and TheOccult.bz (Esoteric Studies). TheGeeks.bz aims to be the one stop knowledge shop for educating the masses."

Our prediction — Once again, assume nothing short of greatness from the TBZ crew, the masterminds behind TheBox.bz and TheEmpire.bz who now possess 6 successful trackers. Since going ‘openreg’ about a week ago there are already 2,500+ well-seeded torrents at TG; expect this one to give BitMe.org a run for its money.

http://adultleech.com

Brand-new pr0n tracker AdultLeech launched back in August and lists 550 total torrents (261 are active, 475 seeds), with the oldest torrent dating back to Sept 1st. Has an eclectic array of releases (custom packs, siterips, scene rels & smaller clips).

Our prediction — One thing the Internet’s not short on, and that’s adult torrent trackers. The market has already been cornered by juggernauts such as PureTNA, Empornium, Cheggit, PT and others.

http://horror-world.info

Not even two weeks old, Horror-World lists 441 torrents with just 67 members. As you probably guessed, it’s a tracker for all-things horror related, including films (obviously), TV series, OSTs and even eBooks.

Our prediction — If horror is your genre then you’ll feel right at home at Horror-World. The variety of movies is outstanding; you’ll find a ton of old classics & rarities as well as most modern releases.

http://www.joysticksandbuttons.info

Online since July 30th, JoysticksAndButtons is a newer games-only tracker with 116 total torrents (37 are dead) and just 122 total seeders among their 377 members.

Our prediction — This ‘thumbs down’ isn’t specific only to this one little site. Truth told, smaller non-niche games trackers will continue to come & go and have almost nothing to offer that can’t be found on scene trackers (SCC, GFT, SeX, TV), nor can they compete with hybrids (TL, IPT, RevTT), not to mention the top games sites (BCG, BitGamer). Private BitTorrent needs a new games tracker like it needs a new TV tracker, or another movie tracker. It simply doesn’t; torrents for games are ubiquitous. JaB’s TTL = about 3 months.

http://wherefore.me

  • — Category: Music (Lossless)     Codebase: Gazelle RC2
  • — Signup: Not directly open to registration.

A (very) brief introduction: Still in beta, Wherefore.me is a new music tracker for lossless audio (specifically FLAC) and even perhaps MP3s; some would consider it to be a spinoff site of What.CD. However, there’s more to it than that - Wherefore.me’s main focus isn’t just on lossless or 100% logs, but more on proper metadata (tagging) and file naming procedures.

Our prediction — None, way too early to tell. For those seeking out more info, look for the thread at What.CD, or check out their IRC channel (see bottom of their homepage).

Other Trackers…

http://www.djsdream.com — Tracker is undergoing maintenance, could return soon. Originally the plan was, "the first 500 members receive 100GB upload credit and 1000 bonus points", believe it or not.

http://tracker.animelovers-fansub.com — New anime tracker; lists 193 torrents & 354 members. No need to register to view the stats…

http://darklair.pl — Newer Polish tracker, lists 488 torrents.

http://trurl3.pl — The new home of TrurlTorrent (a Polish tracker). All old members of Trurl were sent an invite to trurl3.pl. Signups are currently closed; unless you received the invite you’re out of luck. Stats: 1,084 members | 444 active torrents.

http://hdfy.eu — New HD site, now appears offline after a brief existence.

http://www.torrentz4u.info — Online since July, has 138 members & 105 torrents.

Updates on Last Month’s (August) Trackers…

BitUnity.com — Still popular; has virtually the same number of torrents as last month.

File-List.org — Looks as though they suffered a major meltdown; perhaps all accounts & torrents were lost? Had 1,418 total torrents, now has just 248.

Dream-Torrents — Last month had ~400 torrents, now has 708.

AveTorrents.com — Has more torrents this month, but even more are dead. Had 3K dead torrents, now has about 3,500 dead (1,830 are active).

Wormsblast.com.pl — Still sliding. Had 550 torrents on the browse, now has just 241 (with 287 total seeds).

GuteZone.biz — Managed to lose half of all torrents, and half of seeders during the past 30 days.

ChristianMovies.eu — Offline; we checked twice.

xblade-scene.org — LOL, turned into a seedbox now. Even bigger fail - it’s running TorrentFlux 2.4 (not even b4rt).

TNetwork.ath.cx — More than doubled their membership; now has 1,217 active torrents compared to 967 from last month.

Gameburner.netOldstats: 1,293 members | 882 torrents. Newstats: 2,692 members | 1,053 torrents.
