The 10 Most Underrated Private Trackers

February 28, 2009 by sharky

With all the available choices for private trackers these days, it’s easy to let a good thing slip you by. Just about every torrent board has a forum thread somewhere for discussion pertaining to "The most underrated private trackers". We sifted through the comments in each, and rolled it up into one article. IPTorrents, who unsurprisingly wears the crown as the most offered torrent invite, has also been voted the most underrated tracker - we can see why.

12 Clues (and Solutions) To Why Your Torrents Are Slow

February 23, 2009 by sharky

Find yourself saying, "Help me! Why are my torrents so slow?" - then you’re not alone. Millions of torrenters across the globe are asking the same thing. Unfortunately, the solution isn’t just some extraordinary quick fix or spurious torrent accelerator program - you’ll actually have to put a little effort into figuring out the cause of those deathly-slow downloads. Here’s a few tips to put you on the right track to faster torrents…

Universal - A New Torrent Toolbar For Private Trackers

February 21, 2009 by sharky

You know about them. You’ve seen them. You’ve probably even installed them. We’re talking about those dreaded "Torrent Toolbars". Mininova, ThePirateBay, Isohunt, SumoTorrent and every other public tracker you know has conjured up their own modified version of a torrent toolbar. Get the weather, play Sudoku - all while you search for torrents - it’s little surprise as to why they’re avoided.

Under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t go out of our way to promote any toolbar. 99% of them are pure unadulterated junk. However, we’ve found a brand-new toolbar that supports private trackers, without any of the excess baggage. And by the looks of it, the developer obviously put some serious thought into which trackers should be added to the list.

InviteThe.net - An Intentionally Small ‘Torrent Invites’ Board

February 19, 2009 by sharky

Private Tracker Invite Access (PTIA), or InviteThe.Net is the newest Torrent Forum on the block, and a very worthy addition to your tracker invites repertoire. Being online for only three weeks, signing up to PTIA is the easy part - staying there (and accessing the forums) is entirely a different matter. PTIA takes a few extra precautionary measures before allowing just anyone through the door - they’re only accepting members who possess prior private tracker experience (which you’ll be required to prove through their application system). However, we think you’ll find it’s worth it.

JDownloader - RapidShare Downloader That (Still) Works

February 19, 2009 by sharky

A reader recently emailed us asking if there was an application that could manage RapidShare downloads, without the use of Firefox add-ons and scripts. Well, with all of the recent modifications that RapidShare and other hosters have done to thwart easy (free) downloading, most external download managers simply no longer work as intended (or at all). That is, except for jDownloader. jDownloader is a continually-improved active project that supports links for over 100 different 1-click hosters. Downloading is a snap! Simply copy/paste DDL links into jDownloader, and let the program automatically punch through captchas & wait times - and the downloads begin. It even extracts the finished RAR files for you once the ’set’ is complete.

700MBz - A New Gazelle Movie Tracker

February 17, 2009 by sharky

Just when you thought that TehConnection already had their hands full with PassThePopcorn (or vice-versa), here comes yet another movie tracker that’s based on Gazelle. Introducing 700MBz - www.700m.bz - the latest torrent tracker to ruffle some feathers surface on the web. 700MBz is a movie tracker that’s made specifically for XviD ‘DVDRip’ releases (mostly 1-CD 700 MB rips - hence the name) - so you won’t find any DVDR releases.

Invite Giveaways: The Top 240 Offered Private Trackers

February 16, 2009 by sharky

This is a reversal of an article we published two months ago, entitled - "Invites: The Top 50 Requested Private Trackers". This time we’ve come up with a list of the top 240 private trackers whose invites are being offered at 5 popular Torrent Forums. Let’s face it, when it’s all said and done, the success of a Torrent Forum can be measured by the number of good, active members. This in turn correlates to the number of tracker invite giveaways - isn’t that what most of us are there for? Almost every tracker you ever wanted is attainable, you just need to know where to look. So, what’s the most common private tracker invite giveaway? IPTorrents wins in a landslide with well over 230 different offers - just in 2009 alone. And which torrent forum gives away the most tracker invites overall? Looks like ThePirateSociety wins this race.

New Torrent Discussion Board: SceneSpot

February 15, 2009 by sharky

If the proliferation of torrent boards and invite forums can tell us something about private trackers, it’s that the private BitTorrent scene is indeed growing. Take for example SceneSpot at www.scenespot.tk - the latest Torrent Forum to open up on the interwebs. SceneSpot offers torrent invites, tracker reviews and general tracker discussion.

SeedGames.org - A New Games-Only Tracker

February 14, 2009 by sharky

When it comes to private trackers, there’s not a lot of choices out there for Games-only sites. Both BitGamer and Blackcat’s Games are permanently closed to public signups, and many others such as nTorrents and Xbox-Sky are considered niche trackers, providing content for Nintendo and XBox releases only. While the ‘Net is already overcrowded with torrent sites, there’s always room for a new all-purpose games tracker. SeedGames.org is a brand-new tracker that caters to games for all platforms; console and PC/Mac releases.

BTJunkie.org - Leaking Your Private Tracker Accounts?

February 13, 2009 by sharky

It’s never a good idea to use a public torrent site to login to your private trackers. While it may seem convenient to use one central site to manage all of your private accounts (for searching purposes / downloading external torrents), this means you’re trusting them with your account details - and also with your passkey from the torrrents. Very popular BTJunkie.org is one such torrent website that allows for registered users to create an account, setup your private trackers (by submitting your username and password for each), and proceed to search for & download torrents.

According to at least one private tracker owner, BTJunkie is "actually harvesting your private ID (passkey) from your .torrent files". Not only can your accounts be compromised, but it can have adverse effects on your ratio - since your torrent passkeys are being shared & used publicly.

Free GPS Maps & Software For TomTom, iGO, Garmin

February 12, 2009 by sharky

If you own a TomTom, Garmin or Navigon we don’t have to tell you how expensive it is to purchase additional maps and software. Garmin maps start at $50 and in most cases run up into the hundreds of dollars; likewise with TomTom - starting at $60 for maps supporting their older devices; but usually much steeper. While Google can be your best friend, it probably won’t lead you down the right path to the true sources for free GPS navigation and map software - and that’s on torrent trackers and Direct Download forums. These sites won’t make your head spin with inane Google rhetoric - just free maps and software for whatever GPS device you own.

35 Adult Torrent Trackers That Are Open For Signup

February 11, 2009 by sharky

Porn is big business - just look at the proliferation of adult Tube sites such as YouPorn, RedTube and YouJizz. The same can be said about the private tracker scene: Adult trackers are amongst some of the busiest & most popular sites going. If there’s one thing that torrenters can count on, is that adult trackers’ membership is a constant revolving door; and many are thus continuously open for new signups. With Valentine’s day just around the corner, there’s no better time to promote adult trackers - here’s 35 38 adult torrent sites that are accepting new members.

Share And Download Spotify Playlists at SpotiSHARE

February 09, 2009 by sharky

If you’re a Spotify fanboi, we probably don’t need to tell you about the opportunities for discovering new music. With an in-program radio feature that rivals Sirius Satellite; and an infinite number of browsable playlists, the amount of music is staggeringly boundless. In our opinion, probably the coolest feature about Spotify is the ability to add external playlists from like-minded music fans. SpotiSHARE.ws is one such website where users can find, share and download Spotify playlists.

Torify.eu - Search & Browse Multiple Private Trackers

February 08, 2009 by sharky

Last month, we reported about berrypi.com, the Internet’s first publicly-available private tracker metasearch website. Now we introduce Torify.eu - a Web 2.0-style next-gen search engine for your private trackers that does much more than just search the sites that you’re logged in to. In fact, Torify displays a list of the indexed torrents for your chosen trackers - all in the same window.

2009 Oscars - Download The Oscar Torrents Now

February 07, 2009 by sharky

When OscarTorrents.com first took to the stage two years ago, they not only provided torrent coverage of the (leaked) 2007 Oscar-nominated films, but incorporated ‘user-voting’ into the mix. What began as a successful public torrent campaign that reached over 1 million visitors in the span of just two months was rather short-lived, however. For unknown reasons, OscarTorrents did not return in 2008. Flash ahead to 2009’s season which brings us a record-breaking 26 of 26 Oscar-nominated films available on P2P before the Academy Awards even happens (finished just today with the P2P release of Rachel Getting Married, according to Andy Biao from Waxy.org) - we’d assume this to be the perfect comeback year for OscarTorrents. Sadly, this was not to be.

A List of No Ratio Trackers, And The Ratio Free System

February 04, 2009 by sharky

The premise behind a ‘no ratio’ or ‘ratio free’ tracker is to promote a higher level of voluntary seeding and an increased number of long-term seeds, without enforcing a mandatory minimum upload data requirement. Simply put, "no ratio" is just that: members are not obligated to seed to the golden rule of a 1:1 requirement; neither globally nor on a per-torrent basis. If all this sounds too good to be true, then what’s the catch? Won’t users just hit & run the torrents? Not if you want to keep the account, you won’t. The trackers listed below are no-ratio sites, along with the benefits and drawbacks to the ratio-free torrent system.

CoExist, A Ratio Free Music Tracker - Open Signups Soon

February 03, 2009 by sharky

It would appear that CoExist.in - a no ratio music tracker that was set to shut its doors permanently as early as this past weekend, has been given a second chance at life. CE’s future has been shrouded in uncertainty over the past few days in relation to the sysop and the project’s main coder coming precariously close to pulling the plug on CE entirely amidst a shortage of hosting finances, lack of donations, design flaws, and an unrelated scuffle on a private torrent forum.
