CHDBits Not Open for Signup, But Invites are Aplenty

September 24, 2010 by sharky

What used to be a modestly difficult invitation to find, torrenters may have noticed that CHDBits invites have become increasingly prevalent on torrent-invite forums, as well as on tracker forums themselves - all due to CHDBits‘ new promotion. From now until October 7th, aspiring members have an exceptional opportunity to join one of BitTorrent’s best HD trackers. Aside from a very brief period of open registration more than a full year ago, never before has there been a better time to finally stake your claim to an account.

To celebrate the Chinese ‘Mid-autumn Festival’ and ‘National Day’, CHDBits has unconditionally awarded more than half of its members with 3 invites each. All classes above "User" class are automatically eligible for the promotion and have until October 7th, 2010 to use them (after that, they’re gone forever). Doing the math, an estimated 17,500 members qualify which in turn means more than 52,500 potential invitations are available. Those looking for an invite might want to act quickly, though:

• CHDBits has a hard-capped member limit of 35,000 - and of those 34,409 slots (and counting!) have already been filled. It’s unclear if they’ll eventually increase the cap for the entire span of the promo, or if regular housecleaning of inactive accounts will make room for new members. It’s best not to chance it; get in as early as possible. EDIT: Cap has now been increased to accommodate new signups.

• The site will essentially become a closed-system from October 8th until the end of November. That means invites will be disabled during this span, and members will not be allowed to trade Karma points for invites, either. During this phase, current members will be evaluated - read on.

Attention: New & Existing CHD members

On September 21st, CHDBits introduced a new assessment system which is used to evaluate both new & existing members. Requisite criteria varies; it’s based upon when new members have joined and is divided into two sections. We’ll clarify:

1. Members who joined before July 1st, 1010.

There will be a sitewide account pruning of the bottom 5% of ALL existing members (except for VIPs and above) who have uploaded less than 20GB. This assessment begins immediately and will conclude on October 31st, 2010 in which those who place in the bottom 5% will lose their accounts. Thus far 1,314 accounts are in danger.

2. Members who joined between July 1st, 1010 and October 7th, 2010.

This assessment includes anyone who joined after July 1st and includes any new members who have (or will) sign up during this 3-invite promotion. The guidelines here are somewhat more stringent - members who joined within this timeframe are required to fill these requirements:

  • • Download at least 30GB.
  • • Upload at least 50GB.
  • • Earn at least 1,500 boint points (see mybonus.php for more info).

The above assessment is immediate and concludes at midnight on November 30th, 2010. It’s then safe to conclude that the earlier you get in, the more time you have to achieve these goals and make the ‘cut’.

TIPS:

Get a seedbox — Most home torrenters will find it staggeringly difficult to push 50GB upload over the span of the next 9 weeks.

Start out with ‘Freeleech’ Torrents… — Freeleech torrents will dramatically assist to increase your upload GBs without putting you into ratio watch. CHDBits currently lists 1,778 free torrents.

…And then use 50% Torrents & Stickies — After all, you’ll need to download stuff that isn’t freeleech in order to buffer your download GBs.

Where are the CHDBits Invites?

Everywhere, that’s where. New threads for CHD invites are ubiquitous and can be found on just about all torrent forums. Here’s just a sample of what’s new since Sept. 21:

  • TPS has at least 5 new threads for CHDBits in their general giveaway section.
  • T-I.com has 4 new threads in their Pro section.
  • TR contains 5 new threads in their Regular Invite Giveaways area.
  • Etiv has a few threads, plus more in a recruitment area.

…and at dozens of other places. In short; if you can’t find an invite in the next two weeks, then you’re not looking.

As well, tracker forums are a great resource for CHDBits invites (and probably safer). Recent movement concerning official recruitment and/or member invites can be found on - but not limited to - these trackers:

• BitMe.org, What.CD, HDBits.org, Cinematik.net, Awesome-HD.net
