23 New Private Trackers: November 2009 Edition

October 31, 2009 by sharky

Activity has definitely picked up concerning new private trackers during the past month or so. Here’s our scary Halloween edition of what’s hot / what’s not among new trackers - including two new Gazelles you probably haven’t heard about; a great new scene tracker called Kaste; and, as usual, a bevy of sites worth forgetting.

http://total-bytes.com

Online since 10/16/09 - Total-Bytes already lists a very impressive 1,700+ torrents in less than two weeks since launch. For reasons unknown, we’re not sure why this tracker hasn’t become more popular.

Our prediction — We have to give Total-Bytes a thumbs-up, for content alone. Their browse page is a tad suspect and only lists 5 torrents at a time - and their search function isn’t the strongest, either. We do like seeing the number of torrents listed next to each browse category - it appears that movies represent nearly 60% of all torrents.

Ghost Ship

  • — Category: General     Codebase: TorrentStrike
  • — Signup URL: Not found

Another October startup is Ghost Ship. You don’t have to worry about signups being closed anytime soon - there’s just 319 members out of a max 75,000. Total torrents on the site tally in at 211 - although there’s only 139 total seeders spread out amongst all torrents… you see where we’re going with this?

Our prediction — In addition to selecting a disastrous domain name, sheer ugliness alone will sink this ship faster than any iceberg could, regardless of content. Ghost-Ship is one tracker you might just want to take out with you for Halloween; it needs not a costume to fit in. We’re amazed that a group of guys would come together with the cool idea to start up a new private tracker, and proceed to elect regular TorrentStrike for the codebase (psst - it’s not 2005 anymore). Was it a vote? TBDev might just as well have saved this one. Coulda Woulda Shoulda.

http://gamertorrents.org

GamerTorrents is - you guessed it - a new games tracker for console and PC releases. This logoless site indexes 130 total torrents (74 active) and 534 members.

Our prediction — Activity here certainly could be better, especially in regards to new torrents. Three days after launch, GT listed 69 active torrents on Oct. 11th, and today lists just 74. That’s not to say that new content isn’t coming in - but torrents are dying quicker than they should be for such a new tracker.

http://www.hdtshare.com

HDTShare, or HD-Universe is a brand new tracker for all-things HD. You’ll notice some familiar P2P groups here such as CtrlHD, ESiR, PRoDJi, D-Z0N3, SiNNERS and SEPTiC. Content is wide-ranged and includes full BluRays, WMVHDs, x264s and even some audio.

Our prediction — A little too soon to tell, HDTShare lists just 35 torrents since launching on Oct. 18th. Still, you can never go wrong with any new HD tracker, especially one that’s using a slick TBDev codebase. Largest torrent listed is a huge 80 GB Star Trek 2009 - 2 Disk BluRay set.

www.noirestyle.com/tracker/

  • — Category: Movies (Crime)     Codebase: xbtit v2
  • — Signup URL: here.

NoirStyle is, first & foremost, an eD2k site that recently released a torrent tracker to complement the eDonkey links. Content pertains to movies - or more specifically, crime-related classics and film noirs dating back to as early as the ’20s. Too bad we didn’t see Frankenstein listed.

Our prediction — The eD2k site is doing rather well, although the tracker needs torrents badly. This movie site (on the tracker side) features just 23 torrents so far, the oldest one being added on 20/09/09.

http://www.neptoons.info

  • — Category: Cartoons/Kids     Codebase: unknown
  • — Signup URL: None. Use IRC to request invite.

Fox-kids.info has been reborn as Neptoons (all prior F-K members should be able to login using the same user/pass). Direct signups are closed, however invites can be requested through their IRC invite channel at irc.dejatoons.net/neptoons. Ghouls & Goblins alike will find some great content here, as there’s a decent selection of seasons and other large torrents.

Our prediction — Unfortunately the new URL didn’t bring with it the old torrents, as Fox-Kids "used to be the most kickass toon tracker on the net" as one reader so eloquently put it in an email to us at FSF. Content is starting to come back (there’s 87 active torrents) although kids trackers have long been known to struggle. Very sharp-looking tracker, if we may say so - the future looks bright for Neptoons.

http://masterfilles.org

MasterFilles is as dead as a zombie; they just don’t know it yet. There have been entire days, even weeks, with no newly uploaded torrents. Since Oct. 13th, only two (yep 2) torrents have been added that actually contain seeds. We should mention that everything is freeleech; that is, if you can find a torrent with a seed or two.

Our prediction — Again, here’s another tracker that has more torrents than seeders - way more. Total indexed torrents list in at 479 (not bad… until you read the next part) with only 73 total seeders scattered throughout the site, and that’s with 537 registered members. Pity, really - since the TBDev design is quite handsome and there’s multiple browse pages for different site content (if there was any content).

http://www.kaste.org

Kaste is a Latvian/English tracker that started out around the end of August. Content is quite a mixed-bag: there’s a vast array of English scene releases that make up for the majority of the content; although Latvian (and some Russian) torrents are also a staple. In two short months, Kaste already lists some 2,100+ active torrents.

Our prediction — Kaste’s server is blazingly fast, which you’ll see for yourself when clicking into torrent details or browsing pages. There’s a fair selection of diversified scene content that’s hard to find on other trackers (think: SCC). Also worth noting is that all scene releases have pretimes tagged to them, and Kaste isn’t slow to compete. We highly recommend this tracker! Kaste, where have you been hiding?

http://teamtracker.pl

You might have to wait a while for the confirmation email to arrive (we did). TeamTracker currently lists 507 active torrents, but we surmise the actual number of active torrents to be far fewer than reported (that’s good ol’ TS-SE for you). Non-Polish torrenters need not bother signing up - nothing here will be of interest. Members can’t help but notice the huge Help Desk zone that takes up about a third of every page - why do I need to skype staff; and if I did, what the hell would I ask them? How to use torrents?!

Our prediction — Get your right-hand warmed up, since you’ll need to click the "Thanks" button before downloading anything. Why do sites do that? Anyways, download speeds on 1-seed torrents were very fast - suggesting a seedbox is hosting new content - which saved them from getting a thumbs-down.

http://piratescene.net

There’s plenty of room for growth among French trackers, and PirateScene happens to be one of the newer ones (oldest torrent is from Oct. 12th). Not much going on here just yet (1,783 members and just 73 active torrents).

Our prediction — It goes without saying; there’s not much appeal here to international torrenters. Movies & TV are French releases, and there’s not much else.

http://www.bloodflowerz.org

  • — Category: General     Codebase: Forum
  • — Signup: Look for it.

Everyone will probably agree: Forum-style trackers suck. And BloodFlowerz probably won’t become an exception to the rule. While there’s over 340 different ‘torrent threads’, more than half of them are dead torrents (and that’s being generous).

Our prediction — It’s gonna take a lot more than a fancy arcade with weak games to save this one. The actual tracker (and torrents) are no doubt secondary to the arcade, which is clearly indicated in the site’s coding.

http://pre-depot.com

  • — Category: General/Scene     Codebase: Gazelle
  • — Signup: site is currently invite only.

Pre-Depot is the new location for BakedBits. This mostly-stock Gazelle tracker features 907 members and 236 total torrents.

Our prediction — Torrents were slow coming for the first few weeks, although 150 new ones have been added over the past 14 days. At last check, only 97 of 236 torrents have a seed. We were expecting a little more here from the old BitNation/BakedBits team.

http://wanthe.net

What the torrent community really needs is another general Romanian tracker. OK, maybe not. WanThe.net lists 891 members and 353 total torrents (with 229 of them active).

Our prediction — Pretty decent start so far; online for only a week now, and already putting up some good torrent numbers. A good majority of the content is scene stuff such as PC-ISOs and Appz.

http://www.iliketorrents.com

ILikeTorrents is a new Thai tracker that lists 4,523 torrents & 3,365 members since coming online in late August. Impressive stats; although there are only 762 seeders, and zero leechers. No leechers on all those torrents?! Why’s that, you ask? Because the torrents we tested indicate a problem in our BT client - Failure: error secure0.

Our prediction — On content, ILT gets a big thumbs-up. On usability, they get a thumbs-down. But other things drag it down, such as having no category icons and no ability to browse cats. When clicking on the details for each torrent, a new browser tab opens to display it. Oh, and the torrents don’t work. Fix that, or close it down.

http://atomictorrents.net

Since coming online on August 26th, AtomicTorrents already lists 665 active torrents with 1,256 members. In our tests, DL speeds on 1-seed torrents were satisfactory coming from a Kimsufi seedbox.

Our prediction — Off to a good start, and has at least two good dedicated uploaders. Much of the stuff is scene (but watch out for edited torrent names), and movies make up for roughly 60% of all torrents.

https://immortalseed.com

Immortalseed is living proof of how to spin a TSSE-based tracker into a successful site. This general tracker lists nearly 6,000 active torrents and 30,162 members in their first three months. For those who don’t mind TS Special Edition trackers, this one rocks! Torrents here aren’t dead; there’s plenty of seeders on most of the stuff.

Our prediction — This family-friendly tracker offers SSL-forced browsing for added security, and all users are able to upload (there’s a special section devoted to this) but note "We do NOT allow any adult torrents on our site of any kind.". Sort of sounds like TorrentLeech.

http://scene4.us

Scene4.us presently lists zero torrents, so you might be asking why this ghost-town is even in this list.

Our prediction — We previously had an account at Scene4.us earlier last month, and the site was beginning to do well. Then it all of the sudden vanished into thin air for about a month, only to return the day before Halloween. Certainly worth keeping an eye on; they might just make our next months list.

http://www.tvbytes.net

500+ members couldn’t all be wrong, could they? TVBytes is quite possibly the worst TV tracker we’ve ever signed up at. Since Aug. 18th, there’s just 83 active torrents on the site, with blocks of entire weeks with no newly added torrents.

Our prediction — Started out strong, but fizzled fast. Only 15 torrents were added for all of October, and they were all single-episodes. However, there’s some decent series’ and season packs worth checking out from back when they actually gave a shit about this tracker.

http://www.itorrents.org

New iTorrents is a September startup that lists 384 active torrents. (112 movies/XviD; 60+ console/PC-ISO games).

Our prediction — This isn’t a tracker that buffers their torrent count with tiny appz and music releases - there’s some decent-sized torrents here (all hosted on a fast seedbox).

https://nortv.net

NorTV is a newer Norwegian TV tracker that’s been around for about 4 months now. Most releases are PDTV (Pure Digital TV) but there’s also HDTV - naturally, everything is in PAL format. Currently lists 856 enabled users and 613 total torrents.

Our prediction — English users will find this tracker useless, but for Norwegians, NorTV rocks! This slick-looking Gazelle uses SSL forced on the site (but not tracker), and everything appears to be seedbox hosted. There’s even a forum area for other tracker invites which is accessible to all members.

http://www.shareinstinct.com

ShareInstinct is a video-only tracker mostly with scene and Romanian releases - although there’s no discernible theme to the torrents (there’s XviDs, x264s, TV, movies, anime, BRRips). 210 total torrents are indexed since October 10th.

Our prediction — Aside from offering more than just a few aXXo torrents (which we’ll pretend we didn’t see), ShareInstinct is off to a decent start. More than 80 new torrents were added in the past two days.

http://d-reamz.com

D-Reamz lists 170 total torrents and 101 members since launching on Oct. 7th.

Our prediction — The content here doesn’t fit into any other genre aside from ‘general’ - there’s wallpapers, tiny apps and other junk to beef up the torrent count. There’s just one real dedicated uploader, and that’s the sysop.

http://www.play-the.net

  • — Category: General (French)    Codebase: unknown
  • — Signup URL: You’ll find it.

Reload-Paradise’s replacement is now online at Play-The.net. It appears that the old user database has been imported into the new location (lists 75,000+ members). Torrents total in at 3,386 and there’s already some great peer numbers on many.

Our prediction — Nothing less than greatness can be expected for the future of Play-The.net. At last check, their sister site at www.hd-life.net was displaying a 404 error.
