zSlide, the creators of the online/email BitTorrent Podmailing service have outdone themselves once again, this time with a revolutionary all-in-one P2P solution called VIPeers: a new hosting service for Web & BitTorrent distribution. What sets this apart from 1-click hosters and other online BitTorrent services is that there so many more available options for users to share their files. Uploaded files can be shared in emails, as *.torrents, podmailing links (*.zed), DDL (direct download links), forum links, even as clickable links on your favorite social networking sites. Sharing files and torrents has never been so easy!
Presently, VIPeers is in beta mode, so new users will either need to apply for an invitation, or use our special code. To sign up, visit www.vipeers.com/invite.php, and enter FILESHAREFREAK02 in the field.
Introducing VIPeers:
VIPeers is a web service which offers to host content whatever the size, to transfer it by Direct Download or P2P and to share it with your friends or with the whole Internet. VIPeers pushes the current limits of file sharing:
- * Hosting files by direct download links (DDL), and by Peer-To-Peer with BitTorrent.
- * Sharing content, even Full HD videos: no limits on duration or quality, any file format.
- * Sending files over a cloud delivery network that mixes P2P with centralized servers, like Pando, but based on standard protocols and without forcing users to install any software.
A Quick Rundown on How VIPeers Works:
Uploading Your Files:
First, you’ll need to create a new account at VIPeers, and login. You’ll also require Java. Visit the upload link at http://www.vipeers.com/upload.php, where you’ll be presented with a browse button and an option to add a small description to your upload.
Once your file is successfully uploaded, a ‘Congratulations’ box will appear, whereby you can now click "Share It" to go to the many available options for sharing your file(s).
Sharing Your Files:
You’ll now have several options to share the file. For the 4 URL options (download URL and buttons), simply click on the corresponding text link and it’s automatically copied to your clipboard (no need to highlight & copy). The first option "Download URL of the file" is great for sharing in real-time chats, IRC, IM (instant messaging) such as MSN, AIM, etc.) For help on how to implement these various options, simply click the "Display Tips" button in the right corner.
The example below is the option for "Plain button for social profiles", although it obviously works well on blogs & websites:
This next example below is the link for "Download option for blogs":
Furthermore, you’ll be able to create a ‘bookmark page’ with the easy-to-access download links within one of the various supported social networking sites. Once posted, here’s how it appears with the three available download options (HTTP, BitTorrent or Podmailing):
You can also share your files through email, as well (like Podcasting). Click on the Share This link, and click on the Send/Email tab. Enter in the email address of the person you’re sending it to, and they’ll receive the same 3 options as shown in the screenshot above.
Obviously you can just download the *.torrent file and share it in this manner. Additionally, you can also use the free software Podmailing (XP/Vista/MacOS) which efficiently combines BitTorrent and HTTP protocols.
"Our BitTorrent hosting technology enables the quality of service that most P2P networks lack. Files hosted by VIPeers benefit from our smart seed which makes sure that, at any moment, you can download the file from VIPeers at full speed, even if no other user is sharing the file. Concretely, below a certain threshold of available seeds in the swarm, VIPeers activates one or several centralized seeds."
Other Implementations of VIPeers:
Uploading to Seedbox: If you’re a seedbox user but don’t have FTP access (perhaps it’s blocked by your university), then VIPeers is a great alternative to µTorrent’s embedded tracker for uploading your files to your box. Simply upload your files to VIPeers, save it as a *.torrent, and open it up with your seedbox BT GUI (i.e. TorrentFlux). Once it’s completed downloading, change the tracker in the torrent, or use the make torrent feature. NOTE: One thing we noticed though - VIPeers seems to only work with individual files (and not folders); if you require uploading complete folders (as in the case of maintaining directory structuring and multi-part *.rar files) to your seedbox, then use the Podmailing application which adequately supports entire directory/folder uploading.
