Complete List Of Torrent Seedbox Services - Part I

January 19, 2009 by sharky

This is likely the most comprehensive assembly of torrent-ready seedbox companies and services you will find on the interwebs. Whether you’re looking for a ready-to-go dedicated or shared seedbox with TorrentFlux, uTorrent WebUI, or even rtorrent - you’ll find a solution here. There are pros and cons to what each provider offers, in which we try to address - many packages come with unlimited torrents, although the tradeoff is a monthly bandwidth usage cap. Others have limits on the number of active torrents, but the bandwidth throughput is uncapped/unmetered.

Due to WordPress limitations, we needed to break this article down into three distinct pages. Part I is below; and here’s Part II and Part III.

Dedicated do-it-yourself seedbox providers (such as OVH and Leaseweb) are not included in this list - see our Dedibox & VPS Seedbox article for a list of such providers. Providers listed here are typically known as resellers of the dedicated services.

Provider: SeedboxHosting.com

BT Interface: Default: rTorrent (wTorrent) but TorrentFlux-b4rt & uTorrent are available upon request.
Connection: Dedicated 1 Gbit (shared).
Price: Starting at $37/mo; $57 & $97.
Hard Drive Storage: 80, 300, & 650 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: sftp, ftp, http, and Rsync (depending on chosen BT GUI). As well as NX access to uTorrent boxes.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited data transfer.
Watch out for: nothing, great service.

About: With SeedboxHosting, you’re actually getting your own VPS. Users are able to reboot their server, and even access the TFlux admin (and superadmin) privileges, even create multiple accounts (to share the cost burden with friends). Your seedbox is ready for you to use as soon as you pay for it. They also servers complete with custom tools to set up disk quotas when adding multiple accounts (read more here).

Provider: SeedBoxWorld.net

BT Interface:rTorrent/ruTorrent, TorrentFlux-b4rt, uTorrent WebUI
Connection: 100 Mbit & 1 Gbit ports.
Price: Starting at £20/mo (GBP), up to £50.
Hard Drive Storage: 35 GB to 250 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: http, ftp, sftp.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited, unmetered on ALL plans.
Watch out for: Nothing ill to report.
Recommendations: Opt for a Linux VPS w/ rTorrent/ruTorrent & root access (preferably 1Gbit). You’ll get a BT client pre-installed, as well as the freedom to do whatever you like.

About: All of SeedBoxWorld.net plans are VPS server packages (both Linux and Windows are available), and come with a web-based ‘VPS Control Panel’, dedicated IP, and the ability to reboot the server. For those who prefer a Linux-VPS (and who doesn’t?!) plans also come with VNC/Fluxbox and users get to choose the Linux-OS (Ubuntu, Debian, etc) - plus, many come with ‘root’.

While all are ‘VPS’ packages, most also come with a BitTorrent client already installed and available. For plans that have ‘root access’, users can also install their own BT client or anything else on the server. For those looking for a lot more seeding power, SBW.net offers a £33 VPS which comes with root, rT/ruT, 100GB storage, 512 RAM - all on a 1Gbit port.

Provider: www.Santrex.net

BT Interface: TorrentFlux, rTorrent/ruTorrent.
Connection: 100 Mbit.
Price: Starting at $19/mo, up to $89.
Hard Drive Storage: 70 GB to 250 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited.
Watch out for: Nothing bad to report.

About: All seedbox packages come with unlimited monthly bandwidth and unlimited number of torrents - but what’s really cool is that customers have the option to choose from 5 different server locations when purchasing (France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, US or Germany). Their $19 plan with 70GB HDD storage is enough to satisfy almost any torrenter. Great value for your dollar at Santrex. Dedicated servers are also available (from $69/mo)- although these are considered ‘unmanaged’ so you’ll need to install your own BT client.

Provider: LeaseTorrent

BT Interface: TorrentFlux-b4rt & uTorrent
Connection: 100 Mbit shared.
Price: Barebones accounts starting at $6/mo (TFlux), and $29/mo (uTorrent)
Hard Drive Storage: varies.
# of Torrents: varies - extra torrent slots can be purchased.
Access To Files: http, ftp?
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: varies; often capped.
Watch out for: Not recommended whatsoever. You get what you pay for. LeaseTorrent is more of a pay-as-you-go seedbox provider.

About: LeaseTorrent’s pricing hasn’t changed in almost a year, and continues to be a popular choice for frugal seedbox shoppers. Their $6/mo. "1 torrent, 5 GB storage" option is often sold out, but you can get on their waiting list here. It’s cheap, and here’s why: On TFlux plans, the upload bandwidth is capped at 300 KB/s, and the torrent will only seed to a 100% (1:1) ratio, good for public torrents only. Additional torrents and/or drivespace can also be purchased separately. On uTorrent plans, $29 gets you a paltry 10GB storage, unlimited torrents, and a capped 200GB of monthly bandwidth. Extra space & bandwidth can also be purchased, but it doesn’t come cheap.

Provider: BR-Hosting.com

BT Interface: TorrentFlux-b4rt, uTorrent WebUI
Connection: 100 Mbit.
Price: Starting at $15/mo, up to $120.
Hard Drive Storage: 10 GB to 200 GB.
# of Torrents: 2 to unlimited.
Access To Files: http, ftp.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: 2 TB to 30 TB.
Watch out for: Minuscule active torrent limits on almost all plans.

About: Oddly, BR-Hosting only offers one plan where the number of active torrents are completely unlimited. Even their highest-end $80 TFlux plan comes with a maximum of just 12 torrents! It would appear that their uTorrent WebUI seedboxes offer a better deal for your money - $20 gets you 5 active torrents, 5 TB monthly bandwidth, and 20 GB storage.

Provider: SeedM8.com

BT Interface: TorrentFlux
Connection: 100 Mbit (shared), limitations on bandwidth.
Price: Starting at $15/mo, up to $120.
Hard Drive Storage: 12 GB to 16 GB.
# of Torrents: custom RAQ system, varying.
Access To Files: http, ftp.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited, unmetered.
Watch out for: Severe limitations on upload speed.

About: SeedM8 offers a huge list of TorrentFlux services, in three categories of plan options: Q Plan, Standard, and Premium plans. ‘Standard’ and ‘Premium’ accounts operate a little differently through an ‘RAQ’ system, whereby bandwidth management can be highly configured for each torrent, although we found this a little confusing at first. In any event, their "Q Plan" offers a tiny 100 MB/s upload limit, and a 200 MB/s download limit on each torrent - you’d be better off seeding on your home broadband connection. Notes: SeedM8 has ‘caps’ imposed on both the upload and download transfer rates for all of their plans - so choose wisely. However, all plans come with a modest number of active torrents and unlimited monthly bandwidth - this may be ideal for users who are more concerned about a "slow and steady" scheme to buffering their private trackers, without paying premium prices to do it.

Provider: TorrentFluxHost.com

BT Interface: TorrentFlux.
Connection: Dedicated 100 Mbit (but limited speeds).
Price: Starting at $7.65/mo, up to $45.
Hard Drive Storage: 5 GB to 100 GB.
# of Torrents: 5 to 100.
Access To Files: FTP, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited.
Watch out for: Upload speed restrictions on most accounts.

About: At last check, TorrentFluxHost was sold out of all seedboxes. Out of their 5 packages, only one does not have upload speed restrictions. Although, additional upload speed can be purchased separately - an extra 250 KB/s upload speed per torrent is $7.95; 500 KB/s is $14.95.

Provider: SeedHost.eu

BT Interface: uTorrent WebUI - unknown if TorrentFlux is directly available.
Connection: 100 Mbit (shared), and 100 Mbit dedicated premium bandwidth.
Price: Starting at €21 (Euro), up to €180/mo.
Hard Drive Storage: 180 GB to 2000 GB.
# of Torrents: 4 to unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited.
Watch out for: Setup fees on some packages.

About: In regards to their ‘budget’ seedbox, we’re not sure what you’re going to do with a 4 torrent limit and a whopping 180 GB drivespace - that is, unless you can find some really large torrent ‘packs’. Regardless, all of SeedHost’s plans come with a remarkable amount of storage and unlimited monthly bandwidth. Obviously, SeedHost is a professional reseller, and offers some really great dediboxes (it’s just you and the server) - starting at a modest €40 (Euro). ALL plans come with VNC access, and their dedi’s also come with root access. Shared plans have a maximum of 5 users (or less) per server, so you know they’re not oversold. Server specs are included for each plan.

Provider: BioHost.info

BT Interface: TorrentFlux.
Connection: 1 Gbit (shared)
Price: Starting at $4/mo, up to $20.
Hard Drive Storage: 1 GB to 10 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP (5 accounts), http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited, unmetered.
Watch out for: small storage space (1 GB to 10 GB max).

About: BioHost.info offers a $4/mo. unrestricted seedbox, without any limitations on the number of active torrents, no monthly bandwidth restrictions, and no per-torrent limit on upload rate. So, what’s the catch? - their cheapest "Cardboard Box" plan comes with just 1 GB storage. Damn these little boxes! What’s remarkable, apparently all accounts are on a shared 1 Gbit connection (sounds too good to be true, we know). Now, if only BioHost would switch from TorrentFlux v2.4 to TorrentFlux-b4rt, then we’d have a winner! Please, someone test these guys out for us, and give us your feedback!

Provider: Woldo-Host.com - Dead

Update: - Woldo-Host is offline

BT Interface: TorrentFlux.
Connection: 300 KB/s - 500 KB/s (additional speed is extra).
Price: Starting at $5/mo, up to $60.
Hard Drive Storage: 180 GB to 2000 GB.
# of Torrents: 2 to 10.
Access To Files: FTP, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited (but restricted on UL speeds).
Watch out for: upload speed limitations; low max. allowable torrents.

About: For $60 big ones a month, there really shouldn’t be a 10-torrent limit and an upload cap of 500 KB/s per torrent. Even if you did purchase the additional 500 KB/s per-torrent extra (for a grand total of $76 a month), you’ll still only be able to upload at a maximum of 1 MB/s - which is a ridiculous price for such a limit. Not to totally discredit Woldo-Host, we give a thumbs-up on their $5 plan (which is currently sold out). For $5 a month you’ll get 2 active torrents, 5 GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, with an upload speed capped at 300 KB/s per torrent. Definitely a bargain for light torrenting if you can get your hands on it.

Provider: CheapSeedbox.com - Dead

Update: - CheapSeedbox is offline; apparently not cheap enough :)

BT Interface: rTorrent, TorrentFlux?.
Connection: 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit.
Price: Starting at $70/mo, up to $400.
Hard Drive Storage: 240 GB to 1800 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP, FXP, FTPES, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unlimited.
Watch out for: Despite the name, not cheap!

About: We’re not sure why we even bothered to include CheapSeedbox in this list, as it would appear that every single seedbox is sold out. It should be noted, all packages are dedicated servers.

Provider: SeedboxParadise.com - Dead

Update: - SeedboxParadise is offline

BT Interface: uTorrent WebUI & TorrentFlux-b4rt.
Connection: 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit.
Price: Starting at $65/mo, up to $330.
Hard Drive Storage: 250 GB to 2000 GB.
# of Torrents: unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: 2,000 GB/mo. to unlimited.
Watch out for: Expensive!

About: SeedboxParadise is an OVH reseller that offers dedicated servers only, not shared scenarios! If you’ve always wanted an OVH box but weren’t able to get one in your country/region, perhaps this is for you. While not cheap, you’ll get a premium box. By default, each server is Linux-based; specifically Ubuntu Desktop, and all servers come with remote desktop access, uTorrent WebUI, FTP access. The server’s OS is configurable for users who wish to use Windows 2003 Server, FreeBSD, Debian Etch, Fedora etc.

Provider: ProSeedbox.com - Dead

Update: - Proseedbox is offline

BT Interface: wTorrent/rtorrent.
Connection: 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit.
Price: $9.90/mo. to $149/mo.
Hard Drive Storage: 10 to 200 GB.
# of Torrents: 5 to unlimited.
Access To Files: FTP, http.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: unmetered, unlimited on all accounts.
Watch out for: Small torrent limit & storage on their cheaper plans.

About: ProSeedbox offers the wTorrent GUI (a web interface for rtorrent) which is extremely efficient for both transfer bandwidth and server resources. ProSeedbox’s most affordable plan is just $9.90 per month for an unlimited and unmetered 100 Mbit connection that is shared with a maximum of just 2 users. Sounds too good to be true? Maybe. The catch is, there’s a limit of just 5 torrents and 10 GB drive space on this ‘Economic Plan 10′. Got an extra $10 to part with? Upgrade to their Plan 20 (20 GB storage, 10 torrents). ProSeedbox even offers a server with a shared 1 Gbit connection; as expected it’s not for everyone at $149/mo. In any event, for under $10 a month there’s no reason why anyone can’t own their own seedbox.

Provider: JMH Services - Dead

Update: Jan. 6/2010 - JMHServices is offline

BT Interface: TorrentFlux; uTorrent WebUI
Connection: 100 Mbit.
Price: Starting at €35/mo (Euro), up to €120.
Hard Drive Storage: 45 GB to 400 GB.
# of Torrents: all plans come with an unlimited # of active torrents.
Access To Files: ftp, http
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: all plans come with unlimited data transfer.
Watch out for: Nothing; no limits on torrents or bandwidth.

About: Aside from offering dedicated servers, JMH also sells packages with TFlux and uTorrent pre-installed, in both ’shared’ and ‘dedibox’ (one-per-server) configurations. Their dedicated seedboxes come with full admin rights, so you can split it up - perfect for reselling or sharing the cost.

Provider: TorrentSwift

BT Interface: TorrentFlux-b4rt
Connection: 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit.
Price: Starting at $15/mo, up to $400.
Hard Drive Storage: 15 GB to 1500 GB.
# of Torrents: all plans come with an unlimited # of active torrents.
Access To Files: ftp, http
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: varies, see below.
Watch out for: Avoid Torrentswift at all costs.

About: If you know what’s good for you, avoid TorrentSwift like the plague. Dissatisfaction guaranteed.

Provider: TitaHost.com - Dead

Update: - TitaHost is offline

BT Interface: TorrentFlux
Connection: 100 Mbit.
Price: Starting at $1/mo (seriously!), up to $40.
Hard Drive Storage: 100 MB to 50 GB.
# of Torrents: 1 to 6 active torrents.
Access To Files: unknown.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: 50 GB to unlimited.
Watch out for: Very affordable seedboxes, but limits are everywhere. Their "high-end" plan, which consists of a 6 torrent limit and 50 GB storage for $40 seems overly expensive.

About: One of their plans caught our eye, and that’s their "Custom 5" plan, seen at the bottom of this order page. For $1 per month, you get 100 MB (yes, that’s MB) storage (and a 50 GB transfer limit). You’re gonna have a real hard time finding a torrent this small, except on What.cd or Waffles - in which it’s going to be impossible to get that little music torrent to seed to 50 GB, anyways. We wanted to order this package, but it’s currently sold out. Regardless, for $1 you can get a nice screenshot of your *ahem* seedbox, to post in torrent forums when requesting some high-end giveaway. How many users could there be on that server, anyways? 100? 200? GTFO.

Provider: SeedboxSales.com - Dead

Update: - SeedboxSales is offline

BT Interface: TorrentFlux-b4rt, uTorrent WebUI
Connection: 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit.
Price: Starting at $9/mo, up to $175.
Hard Drive Storage: 10 GB to 250 GB.
# of Torrents: 3 to unlimited.
Access To Files: http, ftp.
Monthly Bandwidth Usage: all plans are unmetered/unlimited.
Watch out for: Small torrent limits on low-end plans.

About: SeedBoxSales offers an unbelievable array of torrenting options, including a uTorrent dedicated seedbox for just $49 (250 GB storage/unlimited & unmetered 100 Mbit connection). But SeedBoxSales‘ most affordable option is their $9 per month shared ’simple’ TorrentFlux plan which comes with a 3-torrent limit & 10 GB storage on a shared 100 Mbit line. FTP access is included, and monthly transfer bandwidth is unlimited on all packages.
