We’re going to try a slightly new format around here, and put out a weekly? article dedicated to tracker news & stories that otherwise would be too small for a regular post. Included will be new trackers to the scene, down trackers, and other tidbits pertaining to individual sites. Without further ado, let’s get ‘er started!

What.cd - One Year Young

Amazingly, it’s already been one full year since the launch of What.cd; and it all happened a mere 4 days after the demise of OiNK. To celebrate, there’s a full week of surprises in store, kicking it off yesterday with What’s Staff Picks Collage which includes 19 releases (all of which are freeleech, naturally!) - which gives users a great opportunity to upload a ton on these popular torrents. Halloween ‘08 marks the first anniversary of Waffles. Plans for special festivities are still unconfirmed, if not secretive.

Empornium Launches Annoying Full-Page Adverts

The truth is, most of us hate advertisements. However, it’s a fact of life - on TV, and the Internet is not exempt. Some can be avoided, as in the case with Demonoid, but when a tracker doesn’t give you a choice but to see full-page ads (both pop-up and interstitial) as in the case with Empornium, well… that sorta negates the entire ‘free sharing’ BitTorrent philosophy.

BitNation in Bit Trouble?

Speaking of ads that pop up before a webpage loads, BitNation has also incorporated these, but that seems to be the least of members’ concerns right now. For the last two weeks, their tracker hasn’t worked properly, all files where lost in an OS/hardware server crash, and they have been up and running with about 300 torrents. They advertise double upload credit and can’t track BT client data. To quote one user, "Im sure heaps of people are getting this problem, but basically, i have been seeding some torrents since BN came back up, and it says i have only seeded for 7.2 mins". It goes without saying that members are livid, or plainly jumping ship.

Wunza - A New Gazelle Movie Tracker

Two weeks ago, we published the URL of Wunza, a new movie tracker. We were promptly contacted by staff to remove the URL, in which we obliged. At that time, a Google search for Wunza’s URL (sorry, we can’t publish it) came up with just seven results, so it wasn’t rocket science for them to figure out who was linking. Now, in a weird twist, they’ve opened signups to the public until Halloween, which would completely negate their efforts to keep a lid on the URL. The latest Google search now yields almost 300 hits (including from TrackerChecker.org and most torrent invite forums), but none of which come from FSF. True to form, staff are sticking to their guns on their no-public policy.

New Trackers & Changes

FullContactZone (FCZ) — They’ve changed URLs to http://fullcontactzone.tv, and have open signups at last check.

NCore — The popular Hungarian/English tracker has changed URLs to http://ncore.cc. Signups are not open.

AOM-Killer — The controversial magic tracker is back (with open signups) although we were unsuccessful in receiving a confirmation email message. Check it here - http://www.aomk1.com.

x264.eu has changed to http://x264.me.

http://animebits.org — New anime tracker with 111 torrents, many of which are large packs - everything is freeleech.

http://pornozone.org — Newer adult tracker, over 400 torrents and 12K+ members.

http://pretorrents.org — New general scene tracker with almost 300 torrents.

http://mytracker.ro — New Romanian/English tracker, 180 torrents.

http://www.telnetzone.ro — New Romanian/English tracker.

http://www.swemovie.se — Swedish/English movie tracker, just 38 torrents.

http://rds-zone.ro — Romanian tracker (for Romanian IPs only?).

http://tracker.tmtorquev3.com — 500 torrents.

Down Trackers

Tv.Torrents.ro — Down for almost two weeks now, no news.

BeaScener — Down for the last week.
