AnimeByt.es Offers Rare ‘Open Signups’ to Anime, Hentai, J-Music Fans

December 25, 2009 by sharky

When FSF first reviewed AnimeByt.es back in July, we didn’t expect them to take off like they did. This awe-inspiring Gazelle tracker features 5,500 torrents for all things anime-related (anime, hentai, video games, anime music & soundtracks) as well as J-Music. Almost never open directly for public registration, Animebyt.es is slated to be open signup for two weeks from December 25th through January 8th.

AnimeByt.es - A Triple-Purpose Tracker

The content on AnimeByt.es is neatly partitioned into three sections (three distinct torrent ‘browse’ pages), each with their own unique search & tagging parameters. The first section is for none other than anime and all of its related media (manga, hentai, games & live action) in DVD, XviD & Blu-Ray (HD) formats. The second section includes J-music - both audio (MP3 and FLAC) as well as MDVDs & music videos. The third section contains OSTs/soundtracks for anime & video games and related music. Taken a few weeks back, the image below explains a better view of the available content:

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of doing a "tracker review" - that is; attempt to explain (in your own opinion) what a tracker is all about, then you’ll appreciate how difficult this task can be. Some trackers are overly simple; which leads to the problem of trying to fill it with real substance. Other trackers are so complex that it’s nearly impossible to "get it right" - AnimeByt.es is one of those trackers. Animebyt.es may just be one of the most sophisticated Gazelle trackers that exists.

AnimeByt.es - Unique Features

Without question, Animebyt.es is easily the Internet’s most highly-organized anime tracker. Through their array of features, it’s easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. The coding is simply spectacular; exactly what an anime tracker should be. Features: Too many to count since they have such an active development team, but here’s a list of most of them.

Series List — To compliment grouping & tagging, there’s also a Series page which lists anime as browseable torrents by series name - making it extremely easy to find anything you’re looking for. Some cool other series "listings" found in the Series page of the site (listing of all anime/manga/VN/etc by series + studio + episodes + year + more). There are roughly 6,100 anime series in existence - of these, there are 1,712 anime series totaling 10,780 episodes which have been uploaded to AnimeByt.es.

Collages — The collages are user-created indexes of similar torrents - such as ‘Oricon Top 275 Best Selling Albums in Japan’ and ‘Japan Media Arts: Top 10 Anime of All Time’.

Extended information for each anime release through the torrent description pages, including:

  • - Plot Synopsis - a short description of the plot for each episode.
  • - Song & Soundtrack Info (OP/ED). A chart which lists each opening (OP) and ending (ED) song for every anime release and video game which has thus far been uploaded. It also displays the name of the song and artist (linking back and forth the anime and J-music sections).
  • - Episode Listing & Release Info, each with their own plot synopsis and original air dates - as well as a list of "related" episodes for the series.
  • - Character and Seiyuu Listing (voice actor listings). Lists each character of the show, that character’s voice actor, and how many series each the character and voice actor has been a part of. Clicking on either the character name or voice actor name will show a collage of the other series the character / voice actor has been a part of, including a bio.
  • - Extended Anime Info (official links, # of episodes, runtime, airdates, director, production studio, etc).

• Official AniDB, ANN and Wikipedia links for the anime releases:

Hentai Allowed — Unlike many other anime trackers, AnimeByt.es isn’t afraid to allow Hentai content, although this function can be disabled in the search. TIP: if you want to display only hentai, select "Fap" from the ‘Hentai?‘ dropdown in the search, and click ‘Filter Torrents’ - currently lists 437 torrents (both cencored and uncensored material).

Three distinct upload pages for anime, J-Music and OST releases; as well as three separate torrent browse pages.

Seiyuu browse - for voice actor & character pages (and related torrent links).

Character browse - users can search for specific anime character names, which displays a list of related torrents.

• Unique Bonus System (Konbini) - a bonus/seed system with points awarded based torrent type, torrent size, etc - so it’s easy to keep up a good ratio.

XDCC bot for serving ongoing series (not-yet-completed anime series).

• An extremely detailed & advanced anime search function.

• Animebyt.es allows licensed materials (as opposed to bakabt.com).

• SSL browsing - can be forced through the userCP.

• Everything is freeleech until January 8th, 2010.
