TrackerChecker.org, a top-notch website that tirelessly updates private torrent trackers that are open for registration, could be slated for closure. Launched back in April 2008, it would now appear that the site could disappear soon. Tracker signups haven’t been updated for nearly three days - usually this is every 6 minutes or less - which suggests that this great service is coming to an end - only time will tell.
Update: TrackerChecker is now offline.
Indexing over 500 trackers, the best features come from being logged in as a member. Trackers can be added to favorite lists, custom RSS feeds, and even email notifications to tell you when trackers become open for registration. Statistics pertaining to each tracker are also listed as to when signups are usually open (as a percentage), giving followers a clear view of their chances of getting in unconditionally.
While TrackerChecker isn’t for everyone, it’s a great starting point for public BitTorrent users making the transition over to private trackers. Popular trackers such as ScT, ScL, BitMeTV, What.cd and Waffles are indexed, but the likelihood of signups ever opening up is nil - so don’t expect any assistance here. However, it’s a useful utility for sites such as freshon.tv, syncthebits, bitshock, PTP - and other trackers that don’t regularly hav/p>e open registration, but do from time-to-time.
Finding Open Trackers: Alternatives to TrackerChecker
www.btracs.com
www.btracs.com — BTracs has been around for years; there’s probably not a private torrenter that hasn’t stumbled across this site (it’s URL being spammed across every torrent forum known to pirates, way too often). While "only" listing 383 trackers, they don’t bother with private sites that are perpetually closed. Then again, not everything here at BTracs is accurate - this goes with the nature of private trackers, and with sites that attempt to index them properly.
