PUMP Features…
Open Platform — Any website can be visited through integrated browsing, and PUMP detects its audio, video and torrent content available for download. Great for torrentcasts, podcasts and media blogs.
Partnerships — with major players in the distribution of free music and video on the Web and peer-to-peer:
- • Mininova, the leading torrent indexing website, which distributes free torrents without DRM on behalf of featured publishers.
- • Jamendo, which has an impressive catalog of free music licensed under Creative Commons and is included in the search section of PUMP.
- • LegalTorrents, which enables PUMP to search for torrents in its catalog of animations, videos, music, games, books, graphic novels… essentially in Creative Commons.
PUMP Functionality…
Searching
Results are given by built-in search engines: Google, Jamendo, YouTube, Mininova, LegalTorrents. By default, torrent searching displays results from mininova and legaltorrents, although there’s the option to add customized search engines or directly view (and search) any alternative torrent sites through the embedded browser.
Torrent Downloading
PUMP also comes loaded with its own built-in BitTorrent client for torrent transfers. Simply click a torrent link from either a conducted search, or from torrents displayed on an external site in the integrated browser. If the torrent contains media tracks, they are automatically added to your media library.
Subscribed Feeds — Whether it be an audio or video podcast, a music blog or any kind of RSS feed, you can subscribe to get automatic updates and downloads.
Media Sharing
In addition to burning a CD or DVD, Pump allows you to share tracks online thanks to the VIPeers file hosting service. Media can also be shared via Podmailing.
The shared tracks can be downloaded on the Web by Direct Download or by BitTorrent, and do not require users to install Pump. Download links can be shared by a number of methods:
- • Download URL of the file
- • Send by email or post on Social networks: Facebook, FriendFeed, Delicious…
- • Download button for blogs
- • Plain button for forums
- • BitTorrent and Podmailing links for P2P downloads
Media Playback
In addition to the embedded Windows Media Player, which handles classic Windows audio and video formats, Pump makes use of other media players installed on you PC in order to play all the formats you need without requiring to launch a different application. Other supported players include VLC Media Player and Quicktime, with the ability to import playlists from the iTunes application. Here’s the list of supported formats:
- • MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV, WMV, AVI, ASF, MPEG-2, MPG,…
- • OGG, AAC, FLAC, DivX, Xvid using additional DirectShow filters
- • FLV, H264, MP4, MOV, 3GP using VLC Media Player
