The REAL way to get Private Tracker Invites

April 03, 2008 by sharky

Nevermind anything I’ve ever said before about getting private torrent invites. This takes the cake.

Looking for good private tracker invites, with no strings attached? Follow this. I received two in the same night - FTS and BitMe.

www.trackereactor.com is constantly giving away free invites to some of the best private BitTorrent sites - all for just hanging around. Follow these tips and I personally guarantee that you will get a good invite in the same day.

1. Get yourself registered

First up, visit TrackeReactor and sign up for a free account to their forums. Familiarize yourself with the site (be sure to login), and pay attention to how to view your PMs (private messages) - this is important. More on this later.

It’s been recently brought to our attention that the site is not presently open to new signups to their forums. Apparently, sometimes they are, sometimes they aren’t. Keep trying.

2. Do some speedtests

Many of the “invite giveaways” require that you submit speed tests of your Internet connection, and they want ones that are recent from that day. So don’t get caught scrambling without these results at the last minute - do this beforehand. They ask for this because they don’t want to give good sites to people who can’t upload. If you’re on dialup or an inferior cable/DSL package, then maybe this tip isn’t for you.

TrackeReactor is looking for specific (fresh from that day) speedtest results from www.speedtest.net. On occasion, they’re looking for up to three different results, so you’ll need to conduct the test three times. Visit speedtest, and run the test. At the end of the test, you’ll want to change the output to kilobytes (not kilobits), so do this in the Speed Measure box, near the top-right corner of the webpage. Be sure to click Save so that all of your future outputs are in this format:

Remember, you want to do this beforehand, so conduct the test as many times as you like, and select the best results. At the top of the page, you’ll see a link that says “My Results” - this is where all your results are saved (for your IP address).

In “My Results”, click on what looks like a good speed result, this will open the details for it. Look to the first line where it says “Forum link”. You need to highlight the text in that window and copy it.

Now, create a new text file (*.txt) and PASTE that line into it. Repeat this with three different speed tests (and I recommend that you use 3 different speedtest ‘locations’ for this). After ‘pasting’ all three results in a text file, you should now see this:

Keep this file open and on-hand - you’ll be needing to supply one or all three speedtests, and rather quickly. Again, you should do this on a daily basis (often they ask for results from that day - therefore it’s pointless to use old results).

2b. Alongside the speed tests, they often ask for proof of ratios (with ‘today’s date’) from other private trackers. It’s also quite handy (and necessary) to have this done prior to asking for invites, as well. Use imageshack.us to host your “screen captures”, and use an image editor to block out your username on them, if desired. Copy your imageshack link locations, and save to the same file with your speedtests.

3. Make some posts on TrackeReactor

This site is very community-oriented, and they want you to be an active member. I recommend making five posts in the forums before trying to actively pursue any invite giveaways. The same guy who’ll be giving away the invites is affiliated with the site, so he’s going to check to see if you’ve made any contributions before deciding whether or not you deserve it. So before you start asking for handouts, make some posts. Not sure what to say? Introduce yourself, talk about your favourite trackers, reply to posts already there, anything. Just make those posts first. I can assure you, he will check. Skip this, and you’ll blow your shot.

4. Getting Down to Business

OK, it’s assumed you’ve made some forum posts and done your speedtests. In the forums (http://trackereactor.com/forum.php), scroll down to where it says BitTorrent -> BitTorrent Giveaways! You want to enter this one.

Disregard the stickies - what you’re looking for is the most recent posts underneath that last sticky. Here’s where you have the best shot at jumping on the freshly-offered invites. Hang out in this forum and see what you can get. It goes without saying, the older threads will already be gone in most cases, so you want to refresh your browser quite often (as often as every minute) and wait for a new thread to appear. When it does, enter it quick. Read what they’re asking for (usually a speedtest or even all three results - it depends) and sometimes they want a specific answer to a question - it helps to have wikipedia running in a tab of your browser, as well, in case they ask you a silly question. Below is a look at the most recent ‘giveaway’ thread (underneath the sticky):

Sometimes they’ll give away just one invite, sometimes it’s ten (in the same thread). If you think that you got one, keep an eye on your Private Messages folder (at the top of the page). If you see a “1” next to Unread, you’re in luck! Read what it says to collect the bounty. Remember, you’ll have to refresh the browser window in order to see any changes to your Private Messages.

NOTE: So far today alone, they’ve had 21 different site ‘giveaways’. But they often come in waves. Be patient and wait, and refresh your browser window periodically. Good luck.
