Private BitTorrent Site Reviews - A Look Inside

March 28, 2008 by sharky

We offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse into some of the best, most sought-after private BitTorrent trackers. If you’ve never seen the insides of some of these elite private sites, we recommend you take a look at what you’re missing.

TorrentLeech

TorrentLeech is quickly becoming one of the most coveted private BitTorrent accounts for any BT fan. With unrivaled speed and amazing pre-times, TL offers 0day/0sec torrents in all categories. While never open publicly to new signups, invites are handed out to qualifying members on a regular basis. TL is also one of the most used private trackers - there are a ton of seeders and leechers so uploading to other TL members isn’t all that difficult, either (a seedbox helps, but isn’t mandatory like some other trackers). New members have a 48-hour ‘wait time’ before the torrent becomes active - once a sharing ratio hits 0.4 this goes away.

Blackcats-Games.net

It goes without saying: Blackcats-Games is all about the games - be it console, Windows or Linux releases. Registered users hover in at around 50,000 (they stopped taking new signups back in November, 2007). With a 2,100% seed/leech ratio, downloads are assuredly zippy from their 6,000 offered torrents.

RevolutionTT.net

RevTT is a great mid-level tracker with good pre-times and fast download speeds. With a limit of 55,000 users (unconfirmed), it’s one of the tougher private sites to gain membership to. Features: Excellent user forums, request feature, awesome movies section and a sleek layout makes RevTT a winner!

SCC

Of all the private BitTorrent sites, SCC is underrated. It’s a real ’sceners’ tracker - this is reflected in their pre-times that are often in the seconds/minutes for popular scene releases, not far behind ScT’s. SCC also has a cool feature that displays the upcoming TV shows for the day - users can expect these torrents in a matter of minutes after the original airing. Look to their newly-added “Archives” section for permanent freeleech torrents.

TranceTraffic.com

With a tiny base of just 8,000 registered members - Trance Traffic is a hot ticket that specializes in all genres of trance music. Almost never open to new members, and invites are seldom handed out to the existing ones. Not that you’ll be able to use your invites when the site is full, anyways. Good luck getting in to this elite tracker.

ScT

ScT probably has the best content of any of the 0Day/0sec trackers, with the best pre-times as well. There’s a whole whack of freeleech to choose from among their 23,000 torrents (all ‘packs’ and non-”pre” releases are free). ScT is also the speediest of all the trackers (IMHO) - as it’s the only private tracker that regularly allows me to max out my download bandwidth on most torrents. Uploading is a big problem for non-seedbox members - you’ll definitely be needing one if you wish to survive on ScT. Be sure to check out their fabulously jam-packed forums and tutorials - we can’t say enough good things about this tracker! Invites work on a pay-system — registered members who want invites can purchase them:

  • 20 Euro = 1 invite
  • 30 Euro = 2 invites
  • 50 Euro = 4 invites

LeechersLair.com

Since its initial startup in July of 2006, LeechersLair has been one of BitTorrent’s best-kept secrets, being around for over 2 years now. It’s a good low-level tracker (if you’re into tracker ‘ratings’) with decent speeds and tons of active users, so keeping a ratio is quite easy. Frequent freeleech as well makes this site a good place to start in the private tracker realm.

Torrent-Damage.net

Torrent-Damage is a great ’starting-out’ private tracker, due to its ease-of-access. If you can’t get into this mid-range tracker, you’re just not trying hard enough.

STMusic.org

Billed as the next successor to OINK.cd (we beg to differ), STMusic carries over 60,000 torrents in every conceivable category of music. Invites to STMusic aren’t too hard to come by - they make up over 80% of their members.

BitMe.org

BitMe.org put e-learning trackers on the map. With a paltry 15,000 member limit, plus an extra 15 - 25,000 by way of invites, it’s little wonder why anyone who knows anything has tried to get into this site. BitMe boasts an enormous 18,000+ torrents from all walks of e-learning, including 3D animation, medical, lynda.com tutorials and eBooks.

BitSoup.org

BitSoup is a dinosaur in a world of new-age private BT trackers, but don’t let its age dissuade you. With a sky-high Alexa rank of 3,964, BitSoup has proven itself as a steadfast BitTorrent behemoth. While there are no ‘invites’, the site boasts a modest membership of 100,000 and prunes unused accounts after a lengthy 42 days, thus briefly (and occasionally) opening for new signups.

Like many private sites, BitSoup members should keep their ratios up to 1.0, or else a waiting period will be enforced on downloads.

BIT-HDTV.com

BIT-HDTV is one of the most difficult trackers for new users to register with. Never open to public signups, you’ll need to get in through one of their scarcely awarded invites. With a very small limit of 10,000 users (truth be told, they have 14,000) plus an additional 17,000 ‘invited’ members - invites are given to existing members under strict provisions.

BIT-HDTV has a karma “bonus” system where you gain points for things like seeding and uploading torrents - users can cash them in for various bonuses on the site. Freeleech and 2x uploading is commonly offered.

HDBits.org

HDBits exclusively offers High-Definition torrents in all categories pertaining to video, with some HD (lossless) music releases. With a maximum 21,000 registered users (plus an additional 55,000 invited members), it’s always been an arduous task to gain access to HDBits.

BitMeTV.org

BitMeTV is hands-down the best private tracker for TV shows - period. With an estimated one-third of the registered users being Power Users, expect high download rates.

BitMe has TV torrents from a variety of countries, in every imaginable category, including sports, documentaries, and browsable TV show directories. Looking for something old or rare? You’ll likely find it here, as well. It’s like having a VIP-cable package, without the cable bill!

BitHQ.org

BitHQ.org is another private tracker that specializes in video torrents for TV, DVD and movie releases. It has a permanent selection of freeleech torrents, plus it has its own “bank” system (i.e. ‘points / credits’) called Bitz Bank where users can cash-out their ‘Bitz’ for special site features, invites etc.

TV.Torrents.ro

With an Alexa Rank of 7,600 - TV.Torrents.ro is quickly becoming one of the premier TV trackers available. TVT can be compared to BitmeTV: has great content, HDTV releases and torrents larger than 10GB are freeleech. Has a huge range of TV shows, high download speeds and good pre-times.

FileList.org

FileList is one of the oldest private trackers in our review, but with an Alexa Rank of 8,000, they’re still going strong. Becoming a Power User at FileList is fairly easy - members need to be with the tracker for 4 weeks, and upload a total of 50GB with a 1.25 ratio. Categories of torrents include Movies, Games, Apps and TV releases.

FunFile.org

FunFile is a relative newcomer to the private BitTorrent scene, and offers torrents in every genre. There’s a permanent Freeleech directory for members to browse, usually for large files over 10GB. FunFile also features a ‘credit’ system - credits can be traded in for a variety of site extras (upload ratios, upload GBs), and users gain credits from just simply having a ’seeding’ torrent, regardless of if they upload or not. Bored? Play one of their online games, or gamble your credits with other users.

Wild-Bytes.org

Wild-Bytes is a small BT site of only 10,000 members. It appears that the tracker du jour is one that has a very small membership footprint, regardless of other merits. Good luck getting in; may we recommend that you join their waiting list - http://wild-bytes.org/userapp.php.

Just about all large releases are freeleech enabling you to keep a good ratio.

www.TTi.nu

TTi is an excellent Norse/English 0day tracker, has great speeds and exclusive packs, freeleech torrents and 2X-upload promos. With a modest membership of 21,000, buffering your ratio is exceptionally easy at TTi - they offer a MOTD (Movie of the Day) which is freeleech for that day only. Great tracker!

eBookVortex.com

eBook Vortex has to be the smallest site in the bunch. With a miniscule membership list of only 3,000 (and perhaps an additional 4,700 due to invites), we wish anyone luck getting in. And if you DO get in, we’ve no idea how to increase those upload ratios - there’s 7,500 seeds and only 98 leechers. They badly need to open the doors and let in some new blood.
