Find Open Private Trackers with ‘Open Registrations Checker’

March 14, 2008 by sharky

Unless you were born last night, we probably don’t have to tell you that elite private BitTorrent websites occasionally offer new unannounced signups, usually to replace or “trim” inactive accounts or kicked users. Aside from a few lucky ones that happen to be there at the right time, there’s no sure way of knowing when new accounts are going to be announced. That is, until now.

Torrent Open Registrations Checker from TeamRoots is a brand-new tool to find private BitTorrent sites that are accepting new signups. It’s like Tracker Checker 2 on steroids and speed at the same time. Requires Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 or higher.

Features:

— Crazy-fast searching, and changeable timing (the default between checking is 20 minutes - you may want to increase this).

— Large icons show the results of the check - no more eye strain trying to squint at Tracker Checker to see results.

— Hotkey support (hit CTRL+A to select all). Double-click on the entry in the list to open the registration page for the selected BitTorrent site.

— Settings are totally customizable. Add / remove sites from the list; edit existing ones (advanced); list-sorting functions (for when you add new sites, no longer are they just listed as the last ones at the end).

— No more having to sit at your computer waiting for the results! Supports “audio notification” - will play your selected *.WAV file (or just use the default one provided). Minimize the program into the taskbar, and feel free to sit back, chillax, watch a movie and hear the notification.

TIPS

Included in the database are some public site, such as btjunkie.org, mininova.org, thepiratebay, isohunt.com and others. Delete these from the list of sites to be searched.

UPDATING the sites: You can download the latest version of the “trackers.tlist” file from their website. (We’re unsure if the “in-program” updating feature will actually update the trackers.tlist file or not. — We’ve contacted the developers and are looking into it).

Why We Like it:

As opposed to Tracker Checker 2, in which the developers never bothered to update their database file, Open Registrations Checker has a modern list of private BitTorrent sites. Not only that, but the parameters for the checking are hand-picked and manually done. This is evident in the Text To Find fields, which are specially customized for each private BitTorrent site:

Open Registrations Checker is definitely something to keep an eye on - it contains a huge modern list of private BitTorrent sites that are in demand. Hopefully they can stay up-to-date on the Tracker List (TList file) with future updated versions.

UPDATE: We’ve cleaned up the TRACKERS.TLIST database file, and added a whole slew of popular private BitTorrent sites to the list. We also removed all the public trackers, and sites that no longer work. Download the new trackers.tlist here.

Instructions: Unzip to your C:\Documents and Settings\[your computer name]\trackers.tlist (overwrite the old file). We also recommend to unzip (overwrite) the tlist file in your “C:\Program Files\Torrent Open Registrations Checker\” directory, as well.
