20 New Private Trackers: March 2010 Edition

March 08, 2010 by sharky

Compared to last month’s list of mostly-forgettable duds, this edition of new trackers contains a few pleasant surprises. New sites include: 3 new HD trackers; 2 music trackers; 2 niche trackers; and of course, some RO/EN trackers that you’ll probably want to avoid.

TV, Video & Niche Trackers…

http://xtremetv.org

Online since November, xtreme.tv is a newer TV tracker that serves up 1,350 torrents and has 6,123 members (out of a 10K max userlimit). All torrents are double-upload until April 4th.

Our Prediction — New TV trackers should have a hard time to find a good userbase, but xtreme.tv has done quite well despite the stiff competition. One of their most popular sections is their "Classic TV Shows" category, which includes 280 torrents (all of which are season packs or complete series’). Lots of obscure content to be found here, definitely a tracker worth checking out for those of you who are looking for older stuff.

www.cryptichaven.org

  • — Category: Comedy     Codebase: xBTiT
  • — Signup: N/A (IRC recruitment available)

CrypticHaven Comedy Club originally began as a general tracker, but switched their focus over to a comedy-based tracker back on January 23rd. Content includes comedy movies, TV shows, standup, comic books & audio. Currently lists 663 torrents and 747 members (everything is freeleech ATM). Registration to CCC is not open publicly, but invites can be requested through IRC:

Our prediction — CCC still has a way to go to become a great tracker, but this one is showing excellent promise. Members can expect to find oodles of customized extras on the index page, cool IRC features, CCC radio, joke of the week, and more.

Merlin’s Loft

  • — Category: Sci-Fi/Fantasy     Codebase: TBDev
  • — Signup: N/A (IRC recruitment available)

Merlin’s is a brand-new tracker brought to us by the team behind ACiD. Content is restricted to sci/fi and fantasy torrents (movies, music, TV mostly). Registration to Merlin’s is not open directly (although this may change in the future) but invites can be requested through IRC:

Our prediction — Should do well; Merlin’s has a great group of experienced staffers and members behind the project. As of today, lists nearly 500 torrents & 420 members. Reviews can be found at FST here and at TPS.

Music Trackers…

http://need-music.info

  • — Category: Music (lossless)     Codebase: TBDev?
  • — Signup link: N/A (recruitment available)

Need-Music has been in the works since December 20th, but recently came out of beta early last month. This lossless-only tracker features high quality CD-retails, 100% Log EAC rips, remasters etc. N-M indexes 919 torrents & 1,002 members, and recruitment is said to be available through IRC in #nm-invites on p2p-network.net.

Our predictionNeed-Music has had its share of controversy as of late, but whether or not this tracker can (or ever will) completely recover is anyone’s guess. We hope so, since there’s certainly room in the BT world for another lossless-only site.

http://music-vaults.com

  • — Category: Music (Rock/Metal)     Codebase: vBulletin (Forum)
  • — Signup Link: You’ll find it.

Music-Vaults is a new music tracker brought to us from the team behind the now-defunct Rockout-Boogie forum/tracker. Originally conceived as “Rockhard-Torrents.com” (an xBTiT tracker), R-B has now settled back on using a vBulletin (forum) codebase. Music-Vaults currently lists 240 members & 222 torrents since coming online in late March 2K10.

Our prediction — Hard to predict if Music-Vaults will be successful, although it’s safe to assume that many diehard R-B fans have already jumped aboard. Considered to be a “hard rock / classic rock / metal” tracker, there’s a good selection of FLAC & full concert DVDs to choose from, as well the regular fare of rock/metal MP3 albums - most of which are in 320 bitrate.

HD Trackers…

http://www.thdbits.org

  • — Category: HD (Thai/Chi/EN)    Codebase: TBDev "NexusPHP"
  • — Signup: http://www.thdbits.org/signup.php (English users, choose ‘English’ from dropdown menu on the right side).

Barely six weeks old, THDBits.org is a new Thai/Chinese & English High-Def tracker with 408 total torrents and 4,574 members. Signups are open, but only until they hit the 5,000 member mark. THDBits caters almost exclusively to Blu-ray releases in their native (raw) /BDMV folder structure, and offers a very good selection of English releases to choose from (it’s not just a Thai tracker). Other features:

  • • All Blu-ray torrents are freeleech for the first two months on the tracker.
  • • Offers both SSL site browsing and SSL tracker.
  • • New members receive 20GB upload credit on signup.
  • • Employs double category icons; search functionality is similar to HDBits.org.
  • • Has amazing User-CP features. Rules/FAQ have English versions.

Our prediction — Great design, a ton of peer activity, loads of fresh torrents being added (listed just 151 total torrents on Feb. 17th; now has 408). Nearly 80% of all torrents are Blu-ray releases; THDBits is definitely worth signing up for.

http://www.hd001.org

  • — Category: HD (Chi/EN)     Codebase: TBDev "NexusPHP"
  • — Signup: http://www.hd001.org/signup.php
  • — English Signup: Choose correct dropdown menu on right side, or click here.

Another HD tracker that recently launched is HD001.org. Registration is currently open, but no telling for how much longer (they have 2,034 members out of a max 2,100 limit). Torrents active on this one is listed at 581.

Our predictionHD001 uses the same codebase as THDBits.org (with nearly all of the same site features) and came online around the same time (6 weeks ago). While HD001.org has a few more torrents, there’s fewer raw Blu-rays as an overall percentage (many of the releases are Blu-ray rips in x264/.mkv container). Either way, there’s an impressive selection of English releases to be found.

http://bt.ourdisc.net

BT.Ourdisc.net is a new Chinese tracker for untouched DVDs, HD and Blu-ray releases.

Our prediction — There’s always room for another HD tracker, and Ourdisc is no exception. FILEnetworks’ review indicated 3,600 torrents and 6K+ members, but recent stats are unknown. While the signup page is open, aspiring members will require an invite code; but check back once in a while, this may be subject to change in the future.

General Trackers…

http://seedbits.org

SeedBits indexes an impressive 500 active torrents since appearing 3 weeks ago on February 15th. While considered a ‘general’ tracker, 407 out of 500 torrents are TV releases (word is, for now only TV eps and XviD-movies are being uploaded until they iron out all the bugs).

Our prediction — SeedBits has a clean, easy to browse layout (similar to ScenePalace) - the only complaint is the wait times on new torrents. Everything is seedbox-hosted; users can expect download speeds of 500KB/s or better (on a home PC) and much higher through a seedbox. Pretimes are above-average, SeedBits is worth keeping a close eye on.

http://pirate-bytes.net

Pirate-Bytes v2 has been around since 02-15-2010 and lists 119 members with 218 torrents.

Our prediction — Whilst the torrent count appears low, there’s some good content here; including large packs (most of which are freeleech), game ISOs and the usual array of new XviDs. Download speeds on 1-seed torrents averaged 9.5 MB/s, suggesting everything here is seedbox hosted.

http://www.bullet-torrents.com

Bullet-Torrents came online about six weeks ago and lists just 89 active torrents and 302 total members. Aside from the low torrent count, B-T has a fairly active IRC channel, and has their own network at irc.bullet-torrents.com/#bullet-torrents. If this tracker can find some dedicated uploaders it just might do well.

Our prediction — While Bullet-Torrents is easy to navigate & nice to look at, the only thing really missing is the torrents (and seeders). Out of 323 total torrents indexed, 234 are dead (72%).

International Trackers…

http://intertracker.org

InterTracker is a newer German tracker that lists an unbelievable 5,336 torrents dating back to November 30th, 2009. On average, 125-140 new torrents are added daily.

Our prediction — In a style that German trackers are known for, Intertracker is unknown internationally but has great potential. While their TV, movies & kids sections won’t appeal to the non-German folks - there’s plenty of torrents for games, apps, adult & music.

http://hqsource.org

If you’re Polish and looking for a collection of mostly English films with hard-coded Polish subtitles, then HQSource is for you. If not, then look past this tracker.

Our prediction — Site design is great; but HQSource will likely only capture a limited Polish audience. Most torrents are from the rls group ELiTE, with 95 total active torrents listed dating back to Feb. 12th.

http://www.orion.si

Orion.si is home to P2P/Scene groups OrSi and MrSi, and lists ~800 torrents. Non-Slovenians need not register; there’s nothing much here for the English crowd. Download speeds were pitiful on 1-seed torrents.

http://www.seedboxteam.com

SeedboxTeam sounds like a name for a seedbox provider, not a torrent tracker. Nevertheless, SBT has been online for just over a week and lists 118 members with 93 active torrents.

Other Trackers…

http://www.thrustscene.org (codebase: TBDev) — 602 members & 200 torrents (144 active); this RO/EN tracker has been online since 02-18-2010. Neat design, but it’s said to be changing soon.

http://www.dvditalytracker.org (codebase: TS-SE 5.6) — Italian tracker, indexes just two torrents since February 28th - both of which are dead. Perhaps it’s a little too early to predict the future for this one…

http://ts-share.com (codebase: TBDev) — RO/EN tracker; homepage lists 221 torrents and 279 members. The browse page lists 71 "active" torrents, although only 20 of them have a single seeder. Not a great sign of things to come, since this one’s been online nearly a month already.

http://deviloid.ro (codebase: TBDev) — RO/EN tracker; online since Feb. 16th - lists 164 torrents on the browse page - but more than half have no seeders. New members receive 20GB upload credit. Psst, Deviloid.ro: get a unique name; there’s already a Deviloid tracker.

http://god-zone.ro (codebase: TBDev) — RO/EN tracker; online since Feb. 9th - indicates 222 active torrents, but total seeders (for all torrents) is just 200.

http://ultimusic.ath.cx — You’ll need to do some SMS cellphone crap in order to get into this Hungarian music tracker.

http://www.citirim.biz — Offline at last check.

http://www.flux-zone.org — Offline at last check.

http://www.potorrent.com — Adult tracker on Gazelle, but no new activity or development during the past month.
