Beta Tracker AliveOnThe.Net Open, But Conditionally

August 13, 2009 by sharky

This is not an announcement to promote a new tracker that wants a bevy of new users. AliveOnThe.net does, but it wants good members that can contribute to the site. Strictly in "beta" it’s anyone’s guess to why this new tracker is actually open to public registration at all. First of all; this tracker hasn’t had any exposure (but has a ton of staff activity) - and second; they’re only looking for great individuals who’ll help out.

UPDATE: Registration has now been closed to the public. However, members of What.CD can still contact Kavinorum or Gravey13 for a beta invite.

As mentioned, ATN is still entirely in beta, but not short on ideas. Just don’t go signing up looking for torrents …yet. Regular users are not permitted to upload torrents during this stage.

With a current maximum user limit of just 250, don’t sign up looking to cash in on the early action - you’ll just be disabled anyways with (likely) no opportunity to signup ever again. New registrants must apply for ‘Beta User’ status through their forums, which incorporates proving your worth to the tracker. Got something to offer? Sign up and stay. If not, you’ll be pruned out fast. Don’t blow it, or don’t sign up for now at all.

So… What’s ATN all about?

ATN is a new tracker based on What.cd’s Gazelle code - specifically for live audio recordings only. It’s a music tracker which specializes in live music - in a way, it’s almost a bit of a spinoff site from What.cd.

"We are currently in the process of a major overhaul of Gazelle in order to handle the many complexities of live recordings. The complex quality standards and trump/dupe rules we intend to apply would simply be impossible to regulate and extremely confusing for the end user if we didn’t put the proper time into developing the back-end to support them."

All of this will undoubtedly be changed, so there’s no point in releasing a bunch of pre-launch captures of the tracker.

Serious applicants only: Beta testers, graphic designers and true enthusiasts of live music are welcome only.
