The Swedish Invasion: The Return of the Nordic Trackers

June 29, 2009 by sharky

Don’t count the Swedes out just yet. While Antipiratbyrån’s late-April scare tactic forced more than just a handful of private sites to either close up shop entirely or legalize/remove torrents - Sweden has rebounded en masse, stronger than ever. TTi.nu regrouped and began to offer a regular staple of 0day torrents once again, others released their source code for future aspiring startups - proof that Sweden has officially made a triumphant return to the BT scene. And if trends can tell us anything, the number of new Swedish torrent sites can only suggest that it’s business as usual for Nordic private trackers.

www.tti.nu

Just one month after deciding that it was too risky to host regular 0day torrents, long-time tracker veteran TTi.nu returned to true form. When TTi switched to legal content only, they even opened up public signups (albeit temporarily). For those of us who were able to register without having to find an invite now have access to the good ‘ol TTi - just as though nothing had happened. As it were before the slight hiccup in content, signups are now closed. Antipiratbyrån = 0; Swedish Pirates = 1.

Scenesound.org

When Scenesound bolted out of the starting blocks a little over 4 weeks ago, few would have guessed that this was really just the reincarnate of SoftMP3 in disguise - not just some new tracker using the code. The transition has been undoubtedly seamless, suggesting that the plan all along was completely choreographed. In just one short month, Scenesound already lists an impressive 10,000+ music torrents. Signups are currently closed, but check back often. APB = 0; Pirates = 2.

Moment22.org

Moment22 is a newer Swedish 0day/general tracker that launched at the beginning of May - and is featured as a tracker alternative on FeedTV (which has still removed all torrents). Moment22 boasts nearly 8,000 members, and torrents total in at almost 1,000. Signups are currently open. APB = 0; Pirates = 3.

Dvdrsource.org

With 460 torrents and 6,000 members added in their first month, Dvdrsource is a tracker based on SweDVDr’s source code. As expected, "DVDR PAL" releases make up the majority of the torrents, which total in at a cool 330. Signups to Dvdrsource are open. APB = 0; Pirates = 4.

Scenedvdr.org

Being open for just two weeks, SceneDVDr is yet another tracker that picked up on the freely available source code previously used by SweDVDr. As you might have guessed, content focuses exclusively towards DVDRs for both TV & movie releases. Current number of torrents: almost 200. Signups to SceneDVDr are open. APB = 0; Pirates = 5.

NordicBay.net

Brand-new NordicBay.net has been in existence for about 10 days, and already lists more than 120 torrents. This general tracker offers more than just Nordic content such as DVDRs - popular scene releases found elsewhere are also on the menu. Signups to NordicBay are open. APB = 0; Pirates = 6.

NorDVDR.org

Here’s another brand-new DVDR tracker called NorDVDR. Keep an eye on their signup page, it’s said to open from time to time. APB = 0; Pirates = 7.

SoftPiraten.org

Nothing here just yet; the tracker lists only 23 total torrents. But hey - that’s still 23 more torrents than APB would like to see! APB = 0; Pirates = 8.

Featured New Tracker: Sparvar.org

Sparvar.org is an amazing new DVDR tracker with a focus on TV and movies. Since coming online back in May, there’s already a whopping 4,000 torrents & 2,500 members. If there’s one candidate that’s leading the pack to become the next SweDVDR, it’s definitely Sparvar. APB = 0; Pirates = 9.

Finding an invite — While signups aren’t directly open, new members looking to get in will need to apply through their online invitation form (Tip: English users, use Google Translate to assist you). The process is quite painless, and approval occurs usually in less than 24 hours. The catch? "Together with your application, you must enclose proof of membership on at least one other respectable tracker. This works by adding a code in your public profile on the selected tracker. This profile must be accessible by all - which means that you on some trackers also need to lower the level of anonymity. If your profile can not be accessed, or if the code is not there, your application will be automatically denied."
