Big news from the filesharing subculture of torrent invite forums, Tracker-Invites.us has formed an alliance with TrackeReactor.com. Due to the competitive nature and internal rivalry between most torrent forums, rarely would an event such as this occur. This breathes some fresh life into TR - one of the Net’s longest-running torrent boards. FSF spoke to staff at TrackeReactor to get the inside scoop on the unfolding events.
The T-I.us domain currently displays a TR-like homepage but all links are now redirecting to the TrackeReactor index page. Below is the updated message as displayed on both sites:
"If you are a member of T-I.us. You should be able to login. If you are having problems please email us. US2 told me he had to step down and wanted the site in good hands so these were his wishes."
With the help of T-I.us the Tracker-Invites member database has been imported into TR, and all T-I.us members should now be able to login at TR using their prior account info. We’ve been told that a total of 7,826 members were successfully merged within TrackeReactor (and in a sense, all ex T-I.us members have been given a second chance irregardless of their old status).
Remarkably, in addition to account migration TR is working on importing all of Tracker-Invites.us’s forum threads and posts (9,287 and 93,023 respectively) which is slated to be completed as early as today. Existing members, look for some big changes at TR.
Accounts on Both Forums…
If you have active accounts at both forums, you’ll need to make a choice of which account you’d prefer to continue to use (the no-dupe accounts rule is still in effect, users will not be permitted to login as two separate usernames). The announcement below from June 20th posted by liquid, explains it a little clearer:
"We have imported users from T-I.us and we will be doing threads and posts tomorrow. I think there may be a slight problem with the PMing system. So if you had an account on T-I and one on TR please post in the "TR Staff" section of the site and let staff know which account you would like to keep and which one you’d like to dispose of. Other than that I welcome all of our new members and hope you enjoy your stay here on the site."
*The "TR Staff" section (see at the bottom of the main TR forums) is marked as private, but members are still able to create new threads there.
TrackeReactor Membership Application
For those who aren’t a member of either forum, there’s still another brand-new option for getting into TrackeReactor. While unconditional open signup is not a direct option, TR is allowing potential members to apply through an online application form. Simply register at TR (http://trackereactor.com/register.php) and fill out the interview application (found here once you register).
Staff says, "…it’s not your typical open registration. New members that join can only see the “Interview” section of the site. If they want full 100% access to TR they must fill out an application form which our moderators or myself will look over and approve or deny based on our judgment."
The Interview/Application Page:
TIP: In Q#1 "Before you make invite request(s)…" - we couldn’t find a suitable answer in the FAQ or Rules; perhaps choose "I Don’t Know?!" and "I need to make an Introduction thread" options for now. (The appform came from T-I.us). TR has their own set of rules/requisites for being able to access the invite giveaways & requests areas of the forum.
