The World of ‘Warez Networks’ Explained

July 26, 2010 by sharky

We’ve written plenty of posts on warez forums and release blogs here at FSF, but one aspect to direct download links we’ve neglected to touch deeper on is the ever-growing world of warez networks. Also simply known as "DDL-indexing" sites (think: Katz.cd), by their own right these are indeed full-fledged networks with complex inner workings. Well, perhaps not the majority of them. In this article we’ll do our best-effort to explain the internal nature of the warez network scene, the competitiveness within it, and which sites are the best - and why.

Torrent Forums Merge: Tracker-Invites.us Allies With TrackeReactor

July 21, 2010 by sharky

Big news from the filesharing subculture of torrent invite forums, Tracker-Invites.us has formed an alliance with TrackeReactor.com. Due to the competitive nature and internal rivalry between most torrent forums, rarely would an event such as this occur. This breathes some fresh life into TR - one of the Net’s longest-running torrent boards. FSF spoke to staff at TrackeReactor to get the inside scoop on the unfolding events.

TorrentInvite - Tracker Forum Now Open for Registration

July 17, 2010 by sharky

If memory serves correct, it’s been ages since TorrentInvite.com publicly announced an open registration to acquire new members for an extended period of time. Quite possibly when it did occur last was through a special FSF promotional article way back in June 2009. For those who caught that old post, a lot has changed over at T.I. since then. We’re talking about some amazing unique upgrades & new enhancements which can’t be found on any other board - details which we’ll get to. FSF has been informed that aspiring members can currently join TorrentInvite directly, but it won’t last long.

RapidShare Links Vanish on Blogs, Warez Forums

July 10, 2010 by sharky

Who says piracy doesn’t pay? Try telling that to professional uploaders on warez forums and release blogs who are now boycotting RapidShare en masse. In the aftermath of the TF article which earlier confirmed RS has terminated their entire Rewards program, it is no longer advantageous to upload files to RS. Realistically the decision will indeed have a negative impact on RapidShare’s own revenue take for new subscriptions, not to mention dissuade uploaders from using the service at all. A reader recently posted this on RlsLog.net:

"Let’s teach the greedy losers at Rapidshare an important lesson! No one use Rapidshare or post rapidshare links! Let’s give our hard earned money to any other downloader, even if same cost as rapidshare. They need to be forced out of business for their most recent despicable stunt!" - Source here.

20 New Private Trackers: July 2010 Edition

July 06, 2010 by sharky

These monthly editions of ‘new tracker’ articles take a considerable amount of effort to write, let alone research. Not that FSF has a problem with that. From a writing perspective it’s generally more enjoyable to expose new trackers that are movers & shakers; sites that are going places. Naturally not all months are the same - June 2010 is mostly a forgettable month. Having said that, we’re pleased to report a handful of new BT startups that are golden - and well, we slam the rest.

APNet Closes; Alternatives For Public PreDB and Torrent Races

July 03, 2010 by sharky

What was once a popular hotspot for scene info regarding pred scene releases, DDL-Blog races and an indexer of torrent races - the era of APNet has come to an end. Also known as anotherp2p-net on the IRC circuit, APNet’s owner has cited lack of time coupled with financial issues in relation to the server it’s hosted on - both are said to blame for APNet’s demise. RIP APN; listed below are some alternative public IRC (and web) preDBs that scene freaks should find useful.
