Online Media Streaming, Torrents and More at BitLite.com

June 26, 2010 by sharky

BitLite is a brand new online multimedia storage service that comes with a twist: full BitTorrent support. Users are able to upload .torrent files locally or even from a remote torrent URL. And since the service works entirely on the server-side, download speeds are incredibly quick. Once completed, multimedia files (video, music & images) can then be streamed in a browser to provide flawless online playback. Listen to albums, create a playlist, view image libraries, and stream movies (even in 1080p HD) in full-screen mode just like as though if you were watching it on a home computer.

Being fresh out of the box and still in beta, BitLite is looking for 200 ‘live’ testers to help gauge how well capacity handles demand. For a short time FileShareFreak is offering a special free BitLite signup link available to the first two hundred lucky people:

DidItLeak Lives On - New Music Leak Sites Fill The Void

June 23, 2010 by sharky

The once-popular music leak blog DidItLeak.co.uk domain is set to disappear in a couple of days, bringing down with it the legacy of a pioneering and extremely brave frontman. The late Alan Carton was the mastermind behind DidItLeak - a popular blog (that evolved into a very prosperous Twitter @diditleak) which entertained readers with endless tipoffs for music releases that came out on P2P in advance of street dates. And popular it was!

uTFilterManager, Simplify RSS Filters in uTorrent

June 19, 2010 by sharky

One of the best features ever to be incorporated into BitTorrent clients is the ability to add torrent RSS feeds. But to configure auto-downloading and set up desirable characteristics in RSS feeds does take a fair bit of knowhow - for novices the learning curve can be quite high. There’s filters, wildcards, episodes, and the mind-blowing "not: list" of items that the feed is told to avoid - all this can be daunting to the average torrenter. Well it was, until uTorrent Filter Manager came along. uTFilterManager is a brand-new standalone app that works in conjunction with uTorrent to set up pre-configured RSS feed filters. In its simplest form, all you need to do is type in a name (say, a title of a TV show), add a feed, and uTFilterManager does the rest.

OVH, Kimsufi Now Available in the US, Canada

June 16, 2010 by sharky

Good news for do-it-yourself seedbox aficionados - OVH has finally launched its long awaited expansion into the US and Canada. North Americans (except Mexico) are now able to purchase directly from OVH’s entire line of products at ovh.ie, which also includes the popular Kimsufi brand (found at kimsufi.ie) and even save the VAT. However, there is a slight catch: subscribing to a plan isn’t quite as easy as one would anticipate.

PREd Releases And Torrent Races, In One Site

June 14, 2010 by sharky

Here at FSF, we’re smitten with websites that offer a glimpse into "the scene". Whether it be PreDB/dupe sites that list an unwavering flow of scene releases, or scene trackers that do a little more than just index them. Previndico’s pre is a bit of an oddity: naturally you won’t find any torrents or DDLs here, but it’s a very interesting database for Pred releases. What makes this site special is that the pres are intertwined with private trackers & torrent races - all on one site.

In this June 2010 edition, we’re excited to present some really good fresh trackers (really!) that joined into the madness of the BT scene. We’ve discovered two new speedy ’scene/0sec’ trackers (MAT & DarkAlliance), as well as some excellent ‘niche’ sites (karaoke music; comic books; games) and even a couple of new adult trackers.

HDME.eu - Open Signups; Adds Encoder Groups FraMeSToR and FLAWL3SS

June 07, 2010 by sharky

When you’re good at your job, there will always be a demand for your services. FraMeSToR, a popular movie encoder ‘P2P group’ who was "internal" at Bit-HDTV announced that they’re stepping down from that tracker. That’s a bitter pill to swallow for Bit-HDTV no doubt, but the good news is FraMeSToR has now joined forces as an internal on HDME.eu - a fast-growing HiDef tracker. And the news gets better: FLAWL3SS has also become an internal at HDME for their 720p releases - and to welcome in these new groups, HDME has decided to open registration for a very limited time.

Update: 21:00 GMT 2010-06-08 - Public registration is now closed.

TorrentSection - A Simple, Powerful Torrent Search Site

June 01, 2010 by sharky

In a perfect BitTorrent world, public torrent index sites wouldn’t be forced to shut down, censor content or block IP ranges. Popular torrent indexers TPB, MN & IH have become obsolescent to BitTorrent so as long as others continue to exist. The short (but sweet) history of BitTorrent is evidently repeating itself - indexers will continue to come and go.

Yet there’s a certain group of torrent sites that always seem to keep out of trouble, and that’s torrent meta-search sites. Take our featured torrent search TorrentSection.com, for example. Here’s a site that facilitates searching for torrents found on 12 popular torrent indexers, all in one handy search. Because TorrentSection doesn’t actually index the torrents itself (and only acts as a third-party), they stay under MAFIAA’s radar.
