BitMeTV Implements a ‘Global Ban’ of Romania

December 31, 2009 by sharky

Chalk up another private tracker that brought out the banhammer against Romania. Two months ago, BitMeTV issued a warning to their Romanian users of a possible "global ban". Consider this to be some sort of "trial period" in which if Romanians didn’t clean up their act, further action would be implemented. Yesterday, BitMeTV made good on their threat, and has now globally banned Romania from the tracker - albeit this ban is only temporary (for now).

SeedMore - The Hidden Blog Tracker

December 30, 2009 by sharky

Under normal circumstances FSF doesn’t often review older trackers, as torrent forums pretty much have this market adequately cornered. But since we couldn’t find a review on Seedmore.org anywhere, we thought we’d put it out there. On the surface SeedMore is a Wordpress blog, very much similar to yours truly, except without all the P2P content. But underneath the bogus blog, there lies a well-established private tracker with more than 13,800 torrents. We should also mention that they’re open for registration.

Interviews for Etiv.in (Invite Forum) Now Open

December 28, 2009 by sharky

Etiv.in is one of those torrent invite forums that essentially remains mostly a closed-system. Rarely does Etiv have registration open directly (just twice in their site history; both times were related to FSF articles). Nor do they have a perpetually-open IRC #invite channel for aspiring members to apply - the last time this occurred was back in October for just two short days. From now until January 1st, Etiv has opened a special #christmas-interview channel - now’s your chance to get into one of the ‘nets premier torrent forums.

AnimeByt.es Offers Rare ‘Open Signups’ to Anime, Hentai, J-Music Fans

December 25, 2009 by sharky

When FSF first reviewed AnimeByt.es back in July, we didn’t expect them to take off like they did. This awe-inspiring Gazelle tracker features 5,500 torrents for all things anime-related (anime, hentai, video games, anime music & soundtracks) as well as J-Music. Almost never open directly for public registration, Animebyt.es is slated to be open signup for two weeks from December 25th through January 8th.

DKF - A New Torrent Forum, Now Accepting Applicants

December 24, 2009 by sharky

We can’t give out much information about DKF (aka - The DarK Factory) aside from they’re a new tracker invites & discussion forum. Online for just over a month now, DKF has plenty of activity (threads: 374, posts: 4,179) - all from just 60 experienced members. Don’t expect DKF to open up for public registration anytime soon - either you’ll need to be invited directly, or else apply through their IRC channel.

HD Tracker ‘Bit-UNiT3D’ Now Open For Signups

December 23, 2009 by sharky

Anyone that’s already familiar with HD-UNiT3D.com, a popular high definition DDL forum, has probably already heard about their new Gazelle tracker Bit-UNiT3D. Up until now, their releases were only available as direct download links (DDLs) through filehosters. UNiT3D’s rips can’t be found on private trackers, but that all changed with the recent launch of their sister site Bit-UNiT3D - the official private tracker for all UNiT3D releases.

Convert Multiple Filehosters’ Links Into Premium Links

December 22, 2009 by sharky

Nothing can truly substitute the convenience of having your very own premium account at RapidShare, MegaUpload and other filehosters. But not everyone can afford to purchase premium access, especially nowadays when DDLers definitely need more than one filehoster. If you’re a fan of direct download links then certainly you’ve had some experience (likely forgettable) with those so-called filehoster-premium-link-generator websites. For most of these "services", users are most often bogged down by slow speeds or a tiny limit on the number of daily ‘generated’ premium links - if it works at all - let alone will any support multiple filehosters and simultaneous transfers. RapidPremium is a new unique website that does exactly what it claims to do.

HDBits Invites Cancelled, as Sellers Get the Jump

December 18, 2009 by sharky

Official news from HDBits now confirms that a recent announcement for a 24-hour open-invite slated for this Monday has been shelved for the time being, if not indefinitely. Certainly this is bad news for those on the outside looking in, but as a whole, the HDBits community is supportive of the decision. So, what caused the rollback of the invites? Simply for the exact same reason that the invitation system was disabled exactly one year ago to this day - invite sellers trying to make a quick buck.

In this article we’ve grouped together a list of 100 music trackers by category, with torrent & member statistics for each (where applicable). Enjoy the music!

December 16, 2009 by sharky

If you’re relatively new to private trackers within the past year or so, then chances are you’ve never had the opportunity to join the Internet’s best HD tracker. But here’s some great news for HD fanatics! HDBits.org is opening their invite system for one day only on Monday, December 21st. For those who are unfamiliar with HDBits, it’s unquestionably the premier tracker for all things HD-related.

Leaked Screeners On The Decline For 2010 Oscars

December 15, 2009 by sharky

Has anyone else noticed that there are far fewer leaked screeners this year? Compared to last year’s rampant leakage of screeners that made it to P2P, many of which were found well in advance of scheduled wide theatrical release dates, it would certainly appear that The Academy has closed some gaps in their security. While still early, trends clearly suggest that late-season predicted Oscar-nominee screeners aren’t ending up on P2P as quickly as anticipated, if at all.

Demonoid Returns After a 3 Month Blackout

December 13, 2009 by sharky

If you haven’t heard the news by now, Demonoid has finally made their return; as TorrentFreak caught the scoop early this morning. Many feared the worst: accounts that may have vanished, or ratios not being updated correctly (not that this really matters). Not much of this has happened, mind you - Demonoid seems to be running almost exactly as it did before the extended downtime. But whatever happened to all the torrents?

Alternatives to OVH: The Best Server For Your Money

December 10, 2009 by sharky

Few can dispute the fact that OVH dominates the torrent landscape on many different levels. Whether it’s seedbox providers, resellers, trackers that use OVH, or savvy seedbox owners who do it on their own; OVH is reported to possess up to 70% of the seedbox/torrent market & traffic throughout private trackers. A simple peek into the peerlist on a popular torrent on a good private tracker easily concludes this - OVH is everywhere. Now that the Kimsufi C-05G comes with a €50 installation setup cost, we’ve found a few alternative providers that are more affordable (at least initially).

OVH Initiates a Setup Fee on Budget Kimsufi Line

December 08, 2009 by sharky

Hold onto your Kimsufi. OVH has long been considered a friendly hosting provider for both torrent trackers and seedbox providers, despite a few hiccups along the way. For many DIY seedboxers - and even smaller trackers, OVH has been the host of choice - especially popular is their line of Kimsufi C-05G ‘budget’ dedicated servers. The C-05G was the last remaining OVH server that came without a setup cost, but all that changed last week when they dropped the bomb that a 50 Euro/GBP setup fee is now being applied "to bring it into line with the rest of the Kimsufis" which spans across subsidiaries Kimsufi.com and Kimsufi.co.uk - and both OVH resellers and seedbox providers will feel the pinch.

CN: The Opportunity Awaits to Join the CN Tracker

December 07, 2009 by sharky

CN. We can’t tell you much about the mystical CN tracker. We can’t tell you how many members there are; we can’t even disclose the number of torrents. Nor can we do a proper review, since the site is shrouded in secrecy. You may have heard rumors about CN - certainly it’s one of the best-kept secrets in all of BitTorrent. However, what we can tell you is that CN is a tracker unlike any other; their unique coding is absolutely spectacular, backed up by a solid community. And CN is now accepting applicants through a questionnaire found below.

Tixati - An Advanced New BitTorrent Client

December 04, 2009 by sharky

Not too many BitTorrent clients are able to compete with uTorrent & Vuze, but if total control over your torrent transfers is a must, then Tixati is definitely something worth checking out. This new client offers an absurd array of advanced features; including trackerless torrent support, magnet links, and robust flexibility.

20+ New Private Trackers: December 2009 Edition

December 01, 2009 by sharky

If anything can be said in a positive light about the demise of SceneTorrents, it’s that trackers both new and old are enjoying increased activity. As irreplaceable as ScT is, here are 20 new private tracker hopefuls looking for a place among the torrent world.
