New Tracker LoveTheScene.net Now Open

June 30, 2008 by sharky

BitTorrent’s newest private tracker, LoveTheScene.net, opened its doors yesterday.

Get in while you can - there’s a 3,500 member limit. LoveTheScene presently lists 205 members and 183 torrents (not too bad for just one day). Uploaders are jam-packing the site with as many torrents as possible - there’s a new one every couple of minutes. LTS is currently set to freeleech for the next week or so; now is the time to build a good ratio.

June 29, 2008 by sharky

No, we’re not talking about private trackers. If personal vexation is your game, why not try TorrentStumble - here you’ll be able to ’stumble’ the top public trackers for a random ‘hit’ in any selected category. What could be more frustrating? Firefox Add-ons You Need To Have

June 27, 2008 by sharky

If you’re still using Microsoft’s stodgy, slow, over-bloated browser Explorer, it’s time to make the switch to Mozilla’s Firefox. Last week’s release of Firefox v3.0 with over 15,000 improvements should be reason enough to ditch IE once and for all. Throw in the fact that Firefox is more secure, open-source, and just plain faster in page load times; the real benefits come from the add-ons (or extensions) that are available. Proactive plugin developers from all corners of the globe are chipping in to add functionality to Firefox.

Whether you’re a file sharing freak or just a casual surfer, there’s a Firefox add-on for you. Here’s what the real pros are using (and what they’re not!).

The Monetary Value Of Private Trackers

June 22, 2008 by sharky

Ever wondered if it could be possible to determine the value of the "warez" found on a private tracker? In actuality, the answer is simple! Zip, zero, nil. "No files you see here are hosted on the server." - it is you and I who host those files, not the tracker. However, if you were to look at it through the warped lenses of MPAA / RIAA goggles, perhaps a value could be ascertained.

Truth be told, there’s no accurate way to conduct this without actually looking at the cost of each and every individual torrent listed - I’m not about to do this. But if we can derive the average cost of each item for each category, a tracker’s net worth could be simulated. The data shouldn’t be taken seriously - it’s meant to be fun; furthermore, it’s probably not even close to being accurate.

Tracker-Invites.us Opens For Private Tracker Invites

June 20, 2008 by sharky

Most experienced BitTorrent users know that the best method for getting into any great private tracker (or many) is through Torrent Invite Forums. The recently launched Invites-System.org (now called Tracker-Invites.us) is a welcome addition to the scene, and brings a fresh approach to private tracker discussion and invite giveaways.

TorrentFlux v2.4 (with Encryption) Released

June 19, 2008 by sharky

After a seven-month wait, TorrentFlux has finally been revamped to version 2.4. The extremely popular open-source PHP BitTorrent client has received a facelift and undergone some much-welcomed changes. But the greatest improvement is the encryption support that has been added to the BitTornado 0.3.18 client in TF.

Looking for College Exams? Try FreshExams.com

June 19, 2008 by sharky

I recently stumbled across a cool site at http://freshexams.com that offers College and University exams & essays for download. While not necessarily fitting the bill as a "fileshare" story, it’s definitely something that students should take a look at. There’s an assortment of stuff in both *.PDF and *.DOC format - exams, essays & papers for Electrical Engineering, Anthropology and a bunch of other stuff I know nothing about!

Fight the Canadian DMCA

June 18, 2008 by sharky

If you live in Canada, or download from private BitTorrent trackers that are hosted in Canada (which is many) then this is something you need to read. I felt that this needed as much exposure as it could possibly get.

On Wednesday, Industry Minister Jim Prentice introduced a bill that BoingBoing’s Cory Doctorow described as making it "flatly illegal to break any kind of digital lock, or to violate terms in one of those absurd end-user license agreements that make you promise to agree to let the record industry kick your teeth in and drink all your beer, just for the dubious privilege of paying for a song at iTunes or watching a video on Viacom’s website."

Private BitTorrent Websites - Movie Trackers

June 18, 2008 by sharky

You’d be hard pressed to find a private tracker that doesn’t offer movies unless it’s strictly focused on some specialized genre. And movie-only trackers seem to be all the rage, lately - especially among newer top-level trackers that have abandoned the ratio system. Below is a compilation of private torrent sites that strictly offer nothing but movies (with a few notable exceptions). Some of them are non-English trackers (DVDSeed, RMVBusters) and others avoid newer scene releases by specializing in an eclectic array of material (KG, Cinemageddon).

ThePirateBay - A (Somewhat) Satirical Tracker Review

June 13, 2008 by sharky

Here at Filesharefreak we’ve conducted many reviews of private BitTorrent trackers - it’s part of what we do. However, there’s been some feedback lately why we don’t cover any public BitTorrent sites - how come we’re not digging deep into BT heavyweights such as mininova, Isohunt and ThePirateBay for your perusal. After some deep introspection, we decided it was time to do a public tracker review. So to those unfamiliar - here’s a look at ThePirateBay.

ThePirateBay — A Tracker with a Sense of Humor

TPB has long been known as the bad-boy of BitTorrent with their pro-piracy stance and devil-may-care attitude. They remind me of that geek who’s hiding behind his Dad, taunting the neighborhood bully by sticking out his tongue. The "Dad" in this scenario is a faraway land called Sweden that so happens to have some pretty lax P2P laws. For now. Do you remember this past April Fool’s Day, TPB pulled a prank on all of its oh-so gullible (and intelligent) readership by staging a mock relocation to Egypt, citing an overnight change in Sweden’s copyright laws? Funnneeey. Life imitates art, as they say - this will one day be a reality. Brokep, can you pass the 40 SPF?

A Quickstart Guide to Burning XBOX360 Games

June 12, 2008 by sharky

This tutorial is intended for users that have a ‘modded’ XBOX360 (i.e. "Firmware Flashed") and is not intended for out-of-the-box systems. Nowadays XBOX360 rips are done professionally, and in most cases require a minimal amount of tweaking to get them going as planned.

You will require:

Play Downloaded XBOX360 Games without a Mod Chip

June 11, 2008 by sharky

Searching the Internet for a proper way to "mod" an XBOX360 to play downloaded games (backups) can be an arduous endeavor. I spent hours sifting through dozens of sites and pages before I found out how it is really done, so I thought I would share that knowledge.

When browsing the latest XBOX360 torrents, one thing stands out - many ‘proper’ scene releases are tailored towards XBOX360’s that have been "firmware-flashed". Firmware Flashing is not the addition of a so-called mod-chip - however, it does require a few tools; plus it includes opening of the unit chassis - which, in turn, breaks the warranty. It can also void out your XBOX Live account, or, in a worst-case scenario, brick the unit completely. Yet I recommend that this firmware approach is still much safer than a mod-chip hardware solution.

And Here’s Even More Private Torrent Sites

June 10, 2008 by sharky

The total number of private trackers that are listed at Filesharefreak is unknown - certainly it must be in the thousands. The recently released post on May 23 titled "New Torrent Sites" includes an additional 150 sites that weren’t previously included here, and/or were brand-new to the private tracker scene. Instead of updating that article by adding in a whole bunch of newly-discovered trackers, I thought it be served best by…yet again…adding another article for new trackers. So here’s another 60 100+ private trackers.

Update: July 24/08 We’ve gone through this list and added info, and removed down trackers.

Looking for Games? Blackcats Games is The Place

June 07, 2008 by sharky

For anyone who’s a BitTorrent fan and a games enthusiast, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try to get into Blackcats-Games. Whether it’s PC, XBOX, Wii or PlayStation games you crave - you’ll find it all in this tracker. We felt this was a good time to do a review on Blackcats, since they’ve recently been opening up the door for new members. Filesharefreak managed to slip in and snag an account - so for all non-members and aspiring Blackcats, let this review be all the inspiration you need!

Automatically unRAR Your Torrents Using uTorrent

June 06, 2008 by sharky

We all know how big of a pain it is having to extract all those RAR files after downloading a torrent, especially if it’s a large game ISO or DVDr movie. Even on a zippy computer it takes up to 5 minutes to extract a full DVD release - let alone if you’re stuck using an old clunker. So why not set up µTorrent to do the hard work for you while you’re at work or busy sleeping? Who doesn’t like the idea of waking up and finding your finished torrents already extracted, ready-to-watch?

This tip will allow you to set up µTorrent to automatically unRAR the files in a torrent once it’s finished downloading. Here’s how to do it:

Azureus Search Plugin ‘Cubit’ Released

June 05, 2008 by sharky

Die-hard Azureus users know what the rest of us don’t - the best features are in the plugins. But of all the plugins that are available for Azureus, not one supports internal torrent searching. That is, until now. Introducing Cubit - the Azureus plugin for decentralized searching.

So what makes this search plugin special, when there are dozens of torrent aggregators & metasearch sites, anyways? Cubit is a system that provides fully decentralized approximate keyword search capabilities to Azureus as a standard plugin. Approximate search means that you can use Cubit to find a movie, song or artist even if you don’t know which spelling variation is used in the title or in the name. It gives you what you mean instead of what you asked for exactly, and returns the best results in the network in only a few seconds.

Working List of RapidShare Premium Link Generators

June 04, 2008 by sharky

Who needs a Premium RapidShare account when there’s so many websites that will do the work for you?

As opposed to software, this web-based approach allows users to avoid the waiting times (and Captcha) by using someone else’s RapidShare Premium service. Basically it works like this: The website owns a valid RS Premium account (or many) and offers them to be used publicly - just throw in the RS link and you’ll be downloading wait-and-captcha free. The catch? In most cases you’ll be limited to how many links you can download in a 24-hour period (usually between 3 and 5). Thus, using a few of these sites in different browser tabs will obviously allow you to download multiple files simultaneously. Then again, I don’t see why you can’t use different proxies to trick ‘em into thinking you’re an entirely different user!

These websites disappear faster than a pizza at a Weight Watchers’ convention. So if you decide to do your own Googling for RapidShare Link Generators, be sure to avoid any and all that contain Zango - some are more unscrupulous than others. At the time of publication, all of these links worked. Without further ado, here’s the list:

RapidShare Hacks & Programs That Really Work

June 03, 2008 by sharky

Most of us are already aware that there’s a plethora of pirate’s bounty to be found among RapidShare links. Direct-Download (DDL) websites have sprouted up everywhere offering nothing but warez (music, movies, software), gleefully riding on the coattails of RapidShare’s enormous success. But for those of us who don’t have a RapidShare Premium account, the wait times for downloading can be excruciating. So what’s a professional leecher to do? Find a workaround, naturally! But first, we’d like to discuss the RapidShare Happy Hours.

How To Set Up Your Own Home Seedbox (in Windows)

June 01, 2008 by sharky

Got an old clunker of a computer that’s just collecting dust? Why not turn it into your own BitTorrent seedbox! In this tutorial we’ll explain how you can transform an old shitbox into a seedbox. For those of you who know nothing about Linux (*.Nix), then this is a great solution to optimize that second unused PC. You’ll require nothing more than an old computer, a router/hub (and cables), and software to connect it to your main system. After the whole thing is configured, you won’t even need a monitor/keyboard/mouse on the old system.
